Today we are going to learn how to play 5 super licks in C. C is one of the essential keys to know how to play on the Ukulele. Here are 5 licks in the key of C to jump start your shredding in the key of C. All of these licks resolve on the C note. Blues in C has three chords, C7, F7, and G7. The C7 and F7 both have C notes, meaning these licks will all resolve over both of those chords, so for the first 8 measures of the blues you can use these licks whenever you want. Shred away without worry! The most important thing to work on is the timing, without the timing these licks really are nothing.

A huge part of these licks are triplets and the more advanced ones mix both swing time (triplets) and straight time (1/4, 1/8 and 1/16th notes) mixing those times really gives your blues phrasing, or how you construct the notes, to make your solo both professional and intentional, very important.

Edward Levitan

Hey Tyler, love these blues licks. It’s difficult to read the tabs because they are in a really small type. Would it be possible to make your tabs easier to see? Thanks for all your great tutorials.
