Content
Two intermediate ragtime finger picking progressions to give your music some old time feel and swagger. The idea with these is to learn them verbatim but I will also verbalize the theory and the idea behind the rhythm so if you want to you can either compose your own ragtime swing piece on the Ukulele or even apply these ideas to popular music that you are already familiar with, did someone say Ragtime Jimi Hendrix? Ragtime Jack Johnson? Why not!
The first piece is 8 bars and simpler than the second piece, introducing basic concepts like alternating bass, syncopation and 6ths, the second takes the same ideas further with a 16 bar progression that has chromatic movements, barre chords, dominant chord subs and an epic dominant 9 chord fill that was inspired directly from 1920s style ragtime piano.
