Chord Melody Challenge coming September 1st with a Kala ukulele going to the grand prize winner and 3 other cool Kala gift bags!

Today we are going to learn how to play "I Shot the Sheriff" by Bob Marley in the chord melody style. Talk about a great song! We are teaching it to you in the key of E minor, the original key was G minor so if you want to play it like the recording you will need to put a capo on the 3rd fret. One of the trickiest parts about doing a reggae chord melody is the reggae strum. It is pretty hard to master the syncopation and the melody at the same time, but not impossible! The key is when you are learning how to play I Shot the Sheriff in the chord melody style on the ukulele is to go slow and use the tabs on the screen, really lean on them and do your best to get the timing right. Play it as fast as you can in time, if that means really really slow that is okay, but just make sure that it is in time, that is the only way people are going recognize and enjoy the song.

Eric Clapton covered this song and gave it a lot of blues swagger and has played it live with some epic versions floating around youtube including one that he performed at the crossroads festival. Link to that tutorial here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MMgiHKGbVHM
