Today we are learning how to play "Perfect Day" by Lou Reed on the Ukulele. The first time I heard this song was when I was watching Trainspotting and I fell in love with it instantly. We had it burned on a CD and my friends and I used to listen to this song all the time and play the Spider Man video game for SNES "Maximum Carnage" and when the break would come we would all sing every violin note in the break.

From a song writing stand point there are a lot of very interesting things going on in this tune. It is in G minor, which means the relative major is Bb, despite this there are Bb minors through the verse until you get to the chorus when it switches form the Bb minor chords to the Bb major chords like it should be diatonically. In the lesson we will walk you through each piece and besides showing you how to fingerpick the whole thing exactly like the piano is playing we will show you a strum pattern as well. This song is in 6/8 so if you have never played it the strumming and fingerpicking can be a little tricky but as always we will teach the song in order, chords, chord progression, possible strum idea, the piano style fingerpicking for the verse, chorus and outro and the chords for the instrumental bridge as well. If you have a friend that plays violin it would sound great to have them nail the solo!
