As for work on SBQ 2.8 (Patreon)
Content
since I forgot to post about it here while I was under stress
with the help of others, the minimum required of all the new dialogue for NPCs has been filled out, theres some more lines for personalities that could be filled out, but thats not explicitly necessary, as even in the past versions, each personality didn't have entirely unique lines
I'm still working at the cleanup code wise, and I'm very thankful for those who are playing around with the unstable weeklies and finding the bugs for me, the most recent one did have a rather large issue with the settings pages breaking when trying to print how many times an NPC has climaxed after I made it track that haha, so I'm not going to bother with posting that version
I haven't done any work in the past few days due to reasons in the previous post, but I have heard and noted down many things I still need to do before 2.8 is truly ready, because lots of unforeseen issues do pop up, especially with something as complex as the NPC hunting, so I'll note the main issues I'm planning to solve this next week, since no work got done this week
Preds who eat a willing prey will often never let them out, as the prey isn't trying to escape, and as of currently, preds do not have anything motivating them to ever let their prey out intentionally, this becomes an issue if the player was eaten by an NPC, and then the NPC gets eaten, because you can't escape if you're nested prey, its also an issue if an NPC who gave you a quest gets eaten, as you can't turn it in until they're out
ways I plan to solve this
- put a poster of the instant escape combo on the wall in Auri's house so people know it without having to dive into the help tabs which nobody seems to read (Left+Right+Jump)
- add a dialogue button to pred to ask them to let their prey out, I don't necessarily need new lines since I can use existing letout dialogue
- make NPCs able to get 'bored' so they let prey out after a while, this will be adjustable on a player vs npc basis, so we can still have possessive preds
- boredom may also apply to willing prey so they switch from not trying to escape to trying to escape after a while
- NPCs who have digest effects will have a toggle to get bored faster when they realize their prey may be immune, so they'll let them out faster
