Mm. The final scene with Remmick was edited out in the UK. The body horror at that time of the evening was deemed unacceptable on the BBC at early evening family viewing slot, although some years later, in 2016, Star Trek's anniversary year, the BBC's own magazine Radio Times rated the explosion of Remmick as the 50th greatest scene in Star Trek

Yeah, I heard that part got censored across the pond. Considering some other things in media of the eighties, the ending to this episode seems relatively comparatively tame, though still jarring beyond belief for Star Trek. Of course, the censors and the rating systems have always been screwy. Like how nowadays, nobody seems to want a family film to have a G rating anymore and give films that are perfectly family friendly a PG rating, citing, “Thematic elements” or “Mild rude humor”. Compared to when I was a kid, how you had The Lion King get away with a G rating, or when I was five being able to see Disney’s version of The Hunchback of Notre Dame in theaters due to it being rated G for some God knows why reason. My dad was always thoroughly baffled by that too, much though he enjoyed the film. Then again, Dad did say he was able to see The Getaway with Steve McQueen and Ali MacGraw in theaters when he was around fourteen because that only got a PG rating when it probably should have been rated R.
