I thought this may be Ophidiophobia territory for Jess. Maybe the anthropoid form of the Selay weren't snakey enough thank goodness. Very worrying to see Jess panic-stricken like that. That's some phobia.

Jess’s Ophidiophobia has rubbed off on me, so I sympathize and empathize on that. That Jess could have an adverse reaction to the Selay due to their snake-like appearance, the thought had crossed my mind as well. Like you said, perhaps they weren’t snakey enough. Yeah, I don’t like seeing Jess get panic-stricken as you described. Again, it’s rubbed off on me, the few times seeing snakes in person since, I get freaked out bad enough that I’m checking my heart rate afterwards. I can’t imagine how bad it is for Jess, though thankfully, since this episode didn’t trigger it, I’ll take that as a win.
