oh, this is one of my favorites have seen this with upgraded SFX, but the story, the acting cannot be improved by SFX.

This one is okay. Not the best by the Baker era, but as you can see, full of intrigue. Best thing to call mysterious aliens whom you can't, at least, even see - in my own view anyway! - is a Whatevertheyare! Plural: Whatevertheyares.

Thanks for another excellent reaction. So glad you're intrigued by what's going on. I absolutely get what you mean about the one or two perhaps less likeable aspects of these first two parts which you can't put your finger on because I share that sentiment. By now the format was to show a series of 4 parters followed by a season finale at 6 parts - so yes, some bits drag a little. However for me, it's not that. I think what made me feel a little offset by it was the Doctors awkward out of character treatment of Leela combined with the fact he walked in and took complete control, so in a sense it felt like he was the main Villian or the one Mo Fo, which just didn't quite sit right with me. There are many aspects of this story I love such as The Tardis's full sized swimming pool, K-9's sass, the utterly bombastic ceremony of the Doctor being crowned as president which had something very regal about it & I love some of the characters in this. However, there are some aspects I don't like as much such as what I've mentioned. I'll talk more about the other aspects in your reaction to the final part. See you next time!

This may not be the best story, but I always have a MASSIVE softspot for Gallifrey stories -- especially when there's Chancellory Guards in the mix (I find their tight red uniforms so sexy, ngl) -- and I TOTALLY ship Leela/Rodan LIKE BURNING, so there's that! I also love seeing more of the innards of the TARDIS (i.e. the swimming pool). ❤️❤️

Like Underworld this story suffered from budget and time constraints. It was a replacement for the originally planned story, which was deemed to expensive, and it was written in just 2 weeks. That and an industrial strike delayed set construction, and they were not given priority, being built at a secondary studio. I was dissappointed by so many new actors in roles we had seen, Castallan Spandrell in The Deadly Assassin was fantastic, no nonsense, with a shrewd approach. Kelner is just feh. Arnatt as Borusa is very fine, but I kind of miss the way Angus MacKay presented the character. That first scene in Deadly Assassin when the reporter asks for an interview and he replied, "you had plenty of opportunities to ask question at the academy, you failed to then nd it's too late now" As pointed out, their is a version with updated effects, which help improve the appearance of the story, if not the content.
