I'm enough of a troll to find it hilarious that they got everyone's hopes up for IG-11 coming back, and then crush them a week later. It helps that I was never much on board with the idea in the first place, since as the line from Spirited goes, "Your sacrifice would have no meaning if it had no consequence." And I continue to be impressed at how they toe the line of going just enough into the backstory of characters like Bo-Katan that people who have seen Clone Wars and Rebels get a little rush, but those who haven't still don't feel like they're missing anything. Though in this case I'm pretty curious what anyone who only knows Bo from this show made of the episode, since I imagine they could easily get the impression she was the former ruler rather than her sister. Speaking of, now that they're broached the subject this much, I've love for it to somehow be a part of a possible Obi Wan Season 2. It's always a rush when the OG actors are brought in to reference the new material, and you know Ewan would SLAY a regretful monologue about Satine.

That’s a lovely color combination with the ensemble you’re wearing, Jess. And it kind of matches the color scheme for the title of the show for the season, which is neat. Another enjoyable episode. I got excited when we saw it opened on Tatooine as my first thought was we’d get an episode of The Book of Boba Fett rather than The Mandalorian. It didn’t happen of course, but that’s something I'd like to see. Lovely to see Peli again. That woman needs to be protected at all costs. Her having an adventure with Mando does sound like an agreeable idea. You have a good eye with R5, Jess, for he is that droid from A New Hope. In fact, I kept saying to Peli, “But Peli, this droid has a bad motivator! Unless of course she had that fixed at some point in the last decade or so. Your spa commentary was great. And when it came to the Mandalorian spas, I personally was fine just letting you live in your denial, and not just the river in Egypt. The one set of creatures caught my interest in that I was going, “Wait. There aren’t rakghouls on this planet. Are there?” thus when it confirmed it was a different species, I went, “Oh, ok, not rakghouls. They almost kind of looked like them.” Yeah, Grogu was doing the work. It's nice to see Bo-Katan saving Mando at various points in the episode. I confess to not being the biggest fan of the moments where she sounded somewhat high and mighty about one or two things, but that annoyance gets tempered by the fact that even if she may or may not like Mando terribly much, she jumps to his aid pretty goddamn quick. I had a grim laugh at Bo describing how well a job the Empire did in their destruction of the planet. I chimed in with, “Ol’ Palpy doth have a most vicious streak in having the Empire be very thorough with the death and destruction, yes.” Rude that Mando gets interrupted in the middle of his relaxing spa day, but then you discover that it’s a motherfucking mythosaur, which, well, this should prove interesting. Thank you for another fun and most enjoyable reaction to The Mandalorian, Jess.

Oh boy, I´m soo hoping that Bo-Katan will ride the Mythosaur... "Bo-Katan: Mother of Mythosaurs" would be kinda cool! :D (Hopefully she won´t get mad...^^)

The show’s very first episode mentions that the ancient Mandalorians rode it. No way they’ll just leave that hanging.

Yes Jess, I believe it is the same R5 astromech that the Jawa's tried to flog to Owen and Luke! So this whole episode with him is one big joke on the line from that film, that he has a bad motivator? :D God I love Star Wars! Remember the first time we saw Satine, the palace and the courtyard, with the city surrounding it? To see it all came to this would devastate her had she lived. The Mandalorians were determined to go on a path of self-destruction however, and the Empire merely hastened that destiny. Din having to babysit R5 and Grogu, he truly has become Mando Dad! The creatures and that horrible robot eye thing, are great in this episode. LOVE the fight choreography in this episode. We see Mando is a brawler, used to fighting and taking down the dregs of civilisation as a bounty hunter, then how crude he is fighting and still having issues with the Darksabre. Then Bo comes in and shows just how its done. She's an elite soldier/warrior and has been fighting the best around for decades; and by god she knows how to wield the Darksabre, she makes it look effortless. Bo tells Din of her recent story; she regrets all the infighting but is obviously still steadfast in her belief of what happened with her sister, as she is unapologetic. There is a touch of hypocrisy there that her idea of a strong Mandalore back then, and perhaps still, was that the warrior class should be in charge, yet accepts perhaps her sister was right that the infighting would bring about Mandalore's demise. What makes her fascinating to me, is she seems to represent the dichotomoy of the Mandalorian civilisation, where they are supposed to all be as one and stick together; yet have centuries long wars with each other that almost destroyed their planet way before all this. She tried to keep the clans together during her long battle with the Empire; but we see just how tenuous the others stick to this creed, when they disperse once they think nothing is left. I thought we may go down the path of Din and Bo having to fight it out for the Darksabre; but they may actually get together! They are complete opposites, Din was an orphan, Bo a princess; Din believes in the prophecies and stories of Mandalore, and Bo - until this ep - didn't. Bo also doesn't expect the purity of Din's devotion to his cause, and this surprises her, and may also help snap her out of her ennui; and help her try to convince the clans, that not all yet is lost, if there are people like Din out there who still believe in the creed. Who'd have thought when you watched the dreadful Holiday Special Sesska, you'd be seeing a Mythosaur in Star Wars canon! We can see Lucas is not involved with this anymore, thats for sure, as Favreau loves all that stuff haha! Whilst it was Boba in the cartoon in that nightmare of a fever dream; here its Bo and Din. Also Din did have the rifle Boba used in that segment in the first season. So will he indeed become the Mandalore with Bo at his side? Another fun ep! And yes, I'd love to see you do a watch of the original trilogy after Rebels, especially since the show is a heavy love letter to that wonderful trilogy that started it all! :)

I believe R5 made his first Mandalorian appearance in the previous season premiere. But yes, one great big joke on the motivator line. It's awesome. The creatures, the robots, and the fight choreography was indeed superb. Yeah, it is continuously interesting how Bo-Katan is in some ways a representation of, as you say, the dichotomy of the Mandalorian civilization. Going into the season, the idea of Mando and Bo having to face off seemed likely, and the last episode seemed to suggest the probability of it most likely happening. Following this episode, what with the discovery of the mythosaur, that changes things some. Now I'm curious as to how this discovery will cause Bo to reconsider some things. Two episodes into the season, I’m having a great time, if nothing else. And yes, a rewatch of the original trilogy would be wonderful. Of course, I never need an excuse to rewatch the original trilogy, Return of the Jedi especially as it’s my favorite Star Wars film, and is one of my top ten favorite films. Nevertheless, rewatching the original trilogy with Jess, especially after sharing Rebels with her would be terrific.

I think the fact that I remembered R5 just further proves any scene with 3PO is ingrained into my brain.

Haha! I had suspected that that had something to do with it. It even crossed my mind during the reaction as I thought, “That is a prominent 3PO scene, I can see Jess recognizing R5 because of that.” Your saying every scene of 3PO being ingrained into your brain, I’m the same way with the Emperor, so I relate.

Anyone else notice the similar head shape of the droid in the caves with Toto from The Clone Wars?

Been thinking on this overnight, and I kind of want the creature to have been a vision for Bo. As you say, this could reignite the fire in her once more and perhaps consider some things she thought were just fairytales for children, and that the foundations of Mandalorian civilisation may have been based on the truth. Perhaps she may become reborn afterwards and with Din, truly reunite the people and try to renew Mandalorian society with the clans and Din's extremists on board. I used to love ROTJ as a kid the most, but its fallen down the pecking order quite a bit for me now over the years. A New Hope is getting a bit creaky, but is still a gem of a film; but the creme de la creme has to be Empire for me now, its just about faultless.

I see that, though Toto's is huge compared to the rest of his body.

I'd be fine with the mythosaur being a vision or real. Bo-Katan being reborn and teaming up with Mando to unite the clans of Mandalore sounds a good idea to me. If in fact that’s where we’re headed. Yeah, Empire’s my brother’s favorite. It is pretty much the perfect Star Wars film.
