OMG I'm so excited you're doing this show!! Thank you for always having the best content!

This is reportedly one of the most watched shows that Netflix has ever put out, so we're definitely getting more. It's truly mind-blowing that it took this long for Burton to try his hand at this particular franchise (he was considered for the 1991 film, but stuff got in the way).

I saw this show came out and thought I might like it, but I have very little free time lately, so I thought maybe later. Seeing you are reacting to it I thought I would try it now. Based on this first episode I am pretty sure I am going to enjoy it.

Similar to how you described, I have seen the original Addams Family show from the sixties, though I was always a bigger fan of The Munsters. The two Addams Family films from the early nineties starring Anjelica Huston and the late great Raúl Juliá were, as you said, childhood. Bit hard to believe that they are as old as they are, but then again, I was born the year the first one came out, so it does make sense. Or I should say the math checks out. From the very beginning of this, I already love this, and I can tell it’s going to be right up my alley. I love Tim Burton thus I am loving him bringing his style to the world of The Addams Family. And of course, this being Tim Burton, we have a most delightfully macabre theme by the great Danny Elfman. I especially loved Danny utilizing the harpsichord; I'm a sucker for good harpsichord music. Perfect casting of Catherine Zeta-Jones and Luis Guzmán as Morticia and Gomez. Jenna Ortega is proving most impressive as the title character. I did know going into this that Gwendoline Christie would be in this, and I knew that Christina Ricci would be in it as well, and looked forward to both of them. I’m very despondent over the depressingly high number of viewers, who admittedly, from what I'm hearing are of a younger generation, that one, don’t know Christina was Wednesday, and/or, two, don’t know who Christina is in the first place. I had suspected that you’d be invested in Enid, and not just because of her instant acrylics, though, that certainly didn’t hurt. Yeah, though my initial thought was that she would be a character who could drive me up a wall, when we start seeing how she fires back the sass, which showcases her mettle, she gains my respect and admiration, and you can tell it’s slowly but surely gaining Wednesday’s begrudging respect as well. Also, yes, Thing doth prove himself a most handy comrade. So many highlights in this first episode. One that particularly stood out was Wednesday performing Paint it Black on the cello; it’s my favorite Stones song. Half expected when Enid called the cello an oversized violin that Wednesday would say in response something to the effect of, “It’s a cello, you vapid skittles vomit.” Had a nerd moment when Wednesday asked, “Refresh my memory. Ophelia's the one who kills herself after being driven mad by her family, correct?” to which I said, “Well, as I recall that was primarily Hamlet who drove Ophelia mad. But, yes, basically, that is correct.” I laughed way too hard at Wednesday’s line about coffee “But drip is for people who hate themselves and know their lives have no real purpose or meaning.” I said in response, “Harsh, though not altogether inaccurate.” One moment that I'm not sure if anyone else caught that I loved was the reference to the Betty Boop cartoon with Cab Calloway. Sure, it wasn’t exact, still it was a good reference where Pugsley asks, “What are you going to do?” I’m watching it, and I chimed in with, “Going to do the best I can.” before Wednesday had her line of “What I do best.” to which I got a smile. Certainly, quite a mystery for the season, which for whatever reason they decide to have a sneak peek for the season which I would imagine would ruin some of the suspense. I say I imagine as I did what you did and skipped right past the this season segment. As of my writing this, I've only seen the first two episodes, but I can already tell you that I'm going to love this show, and I would love to continue to share it with you, Jess. I'll see the rest of it either way, but I think I would love it even more sharing it with you. Fingers crossed, that the response goes well for you, Jess.

Ricci was actually a very late addition to the show, and you might notice she spends a decent amount of her screentime alone in the shot due to those scenes having already been shot with the original actress Thora Birch, who had to leave over a family emergency. Funnily enough, Birch had earlier replaced Ricci in the film Ghost World.
