Fun fact about this episode: you can blame Jensen for Dean throwing out the "Samulet" necklace. It kept hitting him in the teeth (and cracked one of his front teeth) during fight scenes, so Jensen asked the writers to find a way for Dean to get rid of it.

Your opinions are right & you should say them! I love that you take the time to break it down from both sides. I don't understand people who want the conflict between them to be just black & white--the times when it's good (like this episode), it's good because they're both right! They're both wrong! It's not interesting or affecting if it's just, "character x is a dick"

I feel bad for those people; part of the joy of the show is seeing both sides. Their upbringing is complex and both their experiences are valid. I'm the youngest of siblings much older than me and we experienced family in a very different way, so I relate. No one's view is "correct." I do believe those are happy memories for Sam: a sense of normalcy or escape, or pursuing a dream of his. I also believe he has many happy memories with Dean but Zach made sure the ones Dean saw were the ones that cause conflict. Zach's been fucking with him for a few seasons and this was a good way to do it.

Also, I love that fireworks scene. Why couldn't they just play the whole song and give us two minutes of Sam and Dean smiling?! Come on.
