First thoughts after seeing Jinx throughout the episode were, “So, we’re getting a very vivid picture of what it would have been like on Game of Thrones if Arya Stark went completely insane. Well, more completely insane than she ended up being.” You’re right that when going through trauma and you only have yourself for company, the voices in your head do a real number on you. Worse, and I can speak from personal experience, when the voices decide to form a sewing circle and become very loud, particularly at night. In answer to the question of is it Powder or Jinx, I’d say whatever you wish. It feels like when someone becomes a Sith Lord in Star Wars, and they take on a Sith name and identity. For example, Sheev Palpatine becomes Darth Sidious, Count Dooku becomes Darth Tyranus, and Anakin Skywalker becomes Darth Vader. At least, that’s the way I’ve read it in that Powder rejects the name and identity of Powder and becomes Jinx. I’m also getting quite invested in Caitlyn. My mom is retired. She was a science teacher for the better part of just under forty years. As a result, I’ve heard a lot about scientists and how cautious they are, and how disastrous it can be when they become too reckless and/or impulsive. So, yeah, I’m with you on the characters wanting to not move too fast on their scientific discoveries. As of my writing this comment, I’ve not seen past this episode, so I can’t speak to what happens next. But I agree with you that it’s quite likely that the situation will get worse, and that the good intentions are likely to blow up in their faces. And yeah, that is a bad pun. But that’s why you have people like me for subscribers. I have no shame when it comes to bad puns.
