A lovely reaction, as always - thank you! It's interesting what you say about Jo's progression and growth as a character. I never really used to see it, and I used to disagree with my friend Tim about it who insisted she did grow as a person across her three years with the Doctor. Watching all her stories again in order with you, though, I think you and he are right. I cannot WAIT for next week, by the way...

Wonderful reaction to the end of a nice story. I decided to go back and listen to the episode 6 audio commentary to hear what people said about it. But I had forgotten that I actually have three (yes - 3!) commentary tracks for episode 6. The first has Katy, Barry Letts (Producer) and Terrance Dicks (Script Editor). The second has Katy and Russell T Davies (Fan). The third is the WhoTalk commentary with Toby Hadoke (Fan), Richard Franklin (Yates), John Levene (Benton) and Mitzi McKenzie (Nancy). Here are a few nice quotes from the commentary tracks. The first is the most important - being about fashion: Katy (at the start of the final scenes): Now that was actually my own outfit, for all you girls. I decided I wanted a change - I was so over those green pants. Terrance: Happy endings all round. Barry: Except for Captain Yates. Katy: This is fun for anyone listening. I'm crying ... Katy: I have to tell you that the tears that rained in the studio included the Brig and everybody else at this point. Russell: Hello faithful viewer. Katy: Did you just say viewer? Russell: Viewer. Just the one. Times are hard. Russell gives a wonderfully eloquent comment about how important this episode was to him as a ten year old - but it's too long to be quoted here. Katy: I was lucky. Jo spent three years growing up. So you watched her changing slightly. Russell: I maintain that Jo grew up over those three years more than any previous companion ever had done. [... and then he goes on to mention Ian and Barbara.] Katy: ... and Mike Yates, who never got the girl.
