Very strong Shock Corridor vibes in this episode. Given all that Dean’s gone through, having fifty-odd drinks a week seems like rookie numbers. Of course, that could just be me. Throughout this, I keep getting reminded of the line exchange from Harry Potter, “Is this all real? Or is it just happening inside my head?” “Of course, it's happening inside your head. Why should that mean that it's not real?” When it comes to burying the anger and rage, I’d have a middle ground. Yeah, you bury it deep, because both of them have badder fish to fry at the moment. By the same token, you don’t pretend that the anger and rage does not exist. Like how the Twelfth Doctor said, “And do you know what you do with all that pain? Shall I tell you where you put it? You hold it tight till it burns your hand, and you say this: No one else will ever have to live like this. No one else will have to feel this pain. Not on my watch!” Burying emotions deep and pretending it doesn’t exist, that's Jedi shit. Look how that’s working out for them. I’m with you on how sometimes negative emotions can overwhelm you to such a degree that you become scared of yourself. I’ve been there many times in my life. Everything you said in your post-episode thoughts made sense. Regarding the question that Dean got asked of why it has to be him who does what he does, it makes me think of the fourth Die Hard film and the line, “Because there's nobody else to do it right now, that's why. Believe me, if there were somebody else to do it, I'd let them do it, but there's not. So, we're doing it.” Yes, therapy would be well advised for both brothers. Unfortunately, this show isn’t M*A*S*H, which means that Sidney Freedman is not a character on this show. Shame, as he’d be able to get both brothers a lot of help. As I said last week, I was hoping that this episode would be more lighthearted after what transpired in the last episode. Although that didn’t happen, at least you didn’t get as upset as you did last week, and if nothing else, you enjoyed the episode, and it was a great reaction, with even better post-episode insights.
