What's especially exciting about this episode is that the books didn't reveal Duny was actually the Nilfgaard emperor until very near the end (which actually made the twist kind of pointless, since there was no time to show anyone reacting to it, or do anything significant with it). Revealing it this early (which also is kind of forced on them by being a visual medium, unless they were just going to keep him offscreen the whole time) indicates the show runners have some big plans to do something different with him.
