Definitely an episode where you watch it and think, “Ok, so very clearly meant to be an analogy for the cold war and/or Vietnam.” It’s amazing that it’s taken this long for the Klingons to make their debut, considering how iconic they’ve become. Kor has proven to be very popular over the years. As I understand it, he was meant to be a recurring character, but unfortunately, John Colicos who portrayed Kor was unavailable to return. It is quite an outfit Spock was wearing throughout most of the episode. The Klingon soldier who caves rather quickly is often given a pass as the show was still ironing out the characteristics of the Klingons. Yes, it is interesting how the episode plays out. I agree that you can understand Kirk’s frustration and stubbornness over the situation. You mention how you’re very stubborn being a Taurus, I’m an Aries so I’d probably be as frustrated and stubborn as Kirk was. I’d have probably even said to the Organians, “Didn’t cross your minds that perhaps it would have been prudent to share that piece of information earlier?” Still, as you say you can still respect the Organions in being very steadfast and unyielding in their beliefs even before you’ve learned why they’re completely unconcerned with the Klingon invasion. I agree that the ending is so great in how humbling it is for both sides, and it makes for a very satisfying ending. This episode is a particularly good one, and I’m glad to see that you very much enjoyed it. Particularly, since you said that this was the first thing you watched after you saw the exceptionally viscerally intense finale to Midnight Mass, it was nice to see that this episode made you smile, and you had a good time seeing it.
