I share that pet peeve of you express concern and/or worry about something and you receive the response, “It’ll be all right.” And yeah, when I say, “What if something happens?” and/or similar statements of that nature and the response is “Don’t worry, it won’t” that’s infuriating. That scene where all the redshirts are lined up is quite humorous. Whenever I see it, I say, “Men, I’ll be honest with you. All of you will die, but it is a sacrifice we are prepared to make.” It is quite farcical that the men arm themselves with clubs to try and kill the Horta. I knew that you’d catch it where when Spock believes Kirk to be in danger, he proceeds to call him Jim rather than Captain. The mind-meld sequences are amazing, and showcase yet again that Spock is, as you put it, “An impressive king.” Like yourself, I quickly surmised that the silicon nodules were in fact eggs. Your happy dance when that was revealed was my favorite part of the reaction. I love the ending where both sides reach the conclusion to work together. I’m on Spock’s side when he’s told he’s becoming more and more human every day. I’d have said to Kirk, “Well, if you’re going to be nasty, I’m going to leave.” William Shatner has said that this is his favorite episode of the series for two reasons. The first being that the plot and themes were very appealing, a sentiment that was shared by a fair amount of the cast and crew. The second reason being that during filming, his dad died, and despite everyone saying that they would be willing to pause production, he insisted on proceeding as it would distract him from his grief. I can relate. As a result, he’s since said that he’s very grateful to the cast and crew for helping him get through the difficult time, and how it helped him get through some of the worst of his grief that came from losing his dad. Glad to see that you really enjoyed this episode, Jess. It certainly was a very enjoyable reaction.

Okay, the Horta Egg Chair Dance is a delight.

One of my favourite things in this episode is Spock. A whole colony of miners is in danger: Save it for science! Jim is danger: KILL IT WITH FIRE!!!!
