Cloud Atlas would be great since you're really enjoying Sense8 at the moment! The Wachowskis are visionaries

So glad V for Vendetta is has top place in the poll so far! One of my favourite films, fingers crossed a reaction for it is coming 🤞🏻

Anonymous

Edge of Tomorrow and Watchmen yes yes yes. Looks like V for Vendetta is going to win though.

Karl Straba

I feel like Cloud Atlas is a good movie but its just sooo long and requires so much focus to follow whats going on lol

Anonymous

I hope you can keep the next most popular options for future months; there is a lot of great stuff on this list.

Opti_Frog

Wow, looks like a runaway victory for V for Vendetta. I hardly remember anything about it. Perhaps i will like it better on rewatch.

@WebSquirrel

Surprised to see The Long Good Friday on that list but I'm desperate to rewatch it so that gets my vote

Karl Straba

Another Wachowski project...They def have some solid movies out there...Matrix is my favorite though.

Dave Ford

Sad to see so little love for Gilliam - Brazil is a dark comic masterpiece. 1984 done as if the British really were trying to do 1984. Plus Combat Plumbing!

I voted for long good friday Bob hoskins is just breathtaking but I suspect Jess would like V for Vendetta more. The wachowskis can be a bit hit and miss I love sense 8 but the matrix sequels don't really work for me. Many of these i admire more than I like. I hate 3d but if your watching avatar surely that has to be in 3D

Stephen Ray

It's a great movie, but considering how many people saw it, I'm not surprised.

Dave Ford

I really need to read 'The Battle for Brazil' - I'm sure I've got in on my bookshelves as it came with a copy of Empire years ago. The story of how Universal butchered the US release to give it a happy ending, and then wouldn't release - and then how Gilliam managed to get it awarded the LA Critics Choice movie of the year - is an epic tale. BTW - Brazil is ranked as the 26th best British movie ever made by industry polls. Perhaps next time..

Opti_Frog

I think i have missed five issues of Empire since 2001. Must have been before that?

Opti_Frog

Not enough name recognition for Your Name. You people seriously need to see this before JJ Abrams makes a shitty live action of it! https://variety.com/2017/film/news/j-j-abrams-your-name-remake-paramount-1202574994/

Dave Ford

That's very possible - I was much more into cinema in the 90's. I've got a copy of the Criteron Collection edition of the movie, which is wonderful stuff. Well worth getting.

Dave Ford

It's one of the best gangster films made in the UK. (okay, so that's not a huge list..) Definitely Hoskins best ever performance

Dave Ford

Or... How about doing the least popular option next. That way we all get to see a film that, maybe, we're unfamiliar with - rather than all getting to see the movies that we're all familiar with. Just a thought.

Dave Ford

BTW- thanks to the other three people who voted for 'The Taking of Pelham One-Two-Three' - I think it's one of the best (and certainly the wittiest) thrillers of the 1970s. It's got a stellar cast, and is, in a very dark and twisted way, every much of a love letter to NYC as Woody Allen's Manhattan - it's a film that simply couldn't exist in any other city. And David Shire's score is a masterpiece. Oh, and it's one of the movies that inspired Tarantino to make Resv. Dogs. Great fan made trailer here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7XdHgltVbHY

Ian Smith

It would have been difficult for any actor to steal a movie from Walter Matthau, but Robert Shaw succeeds simply by being such an immense presence. The film also has one of the best endings of any movie ever - naturally, but cleverly, implanted throughout the film.

I wish there was a way to vote for the same thing multiple times, how can the grey only have half a dozen votes? That film is amazing

V for Vendetta defo.. although very strange to look back on now, most of the stuff we see in the film is reality now..

Dean Nolan

I wasn't really expected Doghouse to win, its not very well known and is never gonna win an oscar. But it is fun and it does mean that Jess you don't have to wait for it to win to watch it, Zombies, Noel Clarke, what more can you ask for! x
