I've had this thought pretty much since he was first introduced but Man Bok ('The Rat') Is hands down the best character of this drama. He's believable, complex, conflicted, the acting is great, I feel for him and his guilty conscience, just...10/10.

I realize a lot of people love it, which is why I avoided being too harsh on it until now but I guess I'm losing my patience. Also, precisely because it's so popular I expected so much more and I find myself more and more disappointed after each episode. Everything is so cliche and surface level now like some of the older romantic kdramas but more boring. My comment was meant to be more playful rather than hate-y lol but of course, it's hard to convey tone in text form. I'd hate to make people feel bad though so I'm sorry about that. I can delete it if it's too upsetting.

I also think that Man Bok is one of the best character of this drama, I can feel his emotions really well, but I also love the other characters too. Also, I know this is a dumb question and i dont want to make you uncomfortable, but where are you from? I feel like you are from Romania or Republic of Moldova, because of your name, but I can be wrong.

I agree that a few times it is pretty hard to not see their acting as just character playing but in my opinion all the actors did a really good job through most of the drama till now. I guess because I already watched the whole drama last year I kind of overlook things I didn't like the first time I watched it. This time I just really enjoy watching it again "with someone". And since I am willing to watch it again, I think it is a pretty nice drama. Not my fav (that's still 100% Flower of Death) but not bad either. Just one small thing regarding Man Bok ("The Rat")...I feel like you missed an important/interesting point in his scene starting from 01:05:06 of your uploaded video ;)

I think that’s the whole point of him trying to come across as him acting. With other guys or when he’s angry etc he’s not like that but with her he doesn’t know what to do with himself and wants to act that he doesn’t care about her so badly which makes it even more obvious that he likes her so he basically turns into a little helpless child. But I agree if you’re not into the whole cringey, cliché rom com kdramas this ones def not for you 😅 I personally absolutely love it.

i went back to see what you were talking about, i guess i didn’t say notice it cause i was talking about him actually maybe starting to like the people he’s spying on haha! good for him, they still got seri though, so i wonder if cheol sent the men anyways knowing he lied to him. i’m not thinking it’s bad it’s just different than what i normally watch, at this point with the characters more laid out i’m enjoying it more than the first 3 episodes.

This drama wasn't for me either, it's too slow and boring, Seo Dan and Seung Jung are the ones that kept me watching but for me it only gets good toward the end. There are so many better rom coms than this.

@xenillith Like I said, I would hate to make people feel bad for liking what they like, even though that's just my sense of humor, I'm obviously not losing my will to live over a drama lol. My comment is now deleted. I haven't insisted on watching it the whole time. I felt like it was fine before episodes 7 and 8, although 8 did pick up towards the end so fingers crossed. I still stand by what I said about his acting and the main couple is really not it for me. It's not subjective though, I do enjoy rom coms sometimes although they are definitely not my favorite genre. Weighlifting Fairy and more recently True Beauty (just two examples that come to mind, I've seen and enjoyed many more though) are really good in that department, I think because they are more than just the romance and not so bland. I've actually not seen many people criticize CLOY at all and for some it's their all-time favorite now. Again, no matter what my opinion on this is, I don't want to make others feel bad about loving it. So yeah, I'll just try to mention only what I like about each episode, it should be fun. At this point, I have to watch the rest of it, I just have to lol. As for Itaewon Class, I have to say I feel you. I really loved it for most of the episodes and then it got increasingly worse. I haven't finished it, actually.

I get that the character is not supposed to show much emotion. It's definitely the point and I actually like characters like that a lot of the time but it just doesn't work for him here. Hyun Bin just looks like he wants to go home. You can still act like you're acting and be believable so that it doesn't feel like it's the actor acting but the character acting, you know what I mean?

I agree. And yes, one of the reasons I wanted to keep watching was Kim Jung-hyun. He was really good in Time. The Seung Jung and Dan couple do seem like they're gonna be more compelling as characters and it's great to hear it gets better later on.

i usually never ever re-watch dramas but this is the third show i'm rewatching with you and i'm enjoying it so much!!!! idk why but seeing your reactions to my fav parts is so great lmao, i can't wait for more eps!!!!

When I first watched this drama last year, I skipped a few episodes in the middle and went to episode 10 or 11 because I was starting to get bored so this is actually the first time I am seeing this episode

I think I'm pretty in the middle on this drama I'm enjoying it enough to keep going but the second half will have to be pretty good for me to rank it as being memorable I think being fair there's nothing wrong with it but given that it was arguably the most popular drama of the last year I might have expected more. I think it all boils down to pacing the 16 standard episodes k-drama format hinders some story lines that could be made more fast-paced like there has been a bit of action here so far but I think a 12 episode run might have been the perfect way to move things along. Like we're only halfway through but it's feeling like it's dragging a little bit overall though I want to know how it wraps up so there's a good chance the second half could blow me away.

Something I think is strong with this show is each episode has a really good arc contained within it. Like episode 8 overall was a great episode I want to know what happens with the watch and with Seri's dad hearing she could still be alive. but the momentum gets stuck a little bit with me knowing that there are eight episodes left if there were only four let's say I would be like oh s*** the stakes are getting really high whereas now I'm pretty sure they'll have to bring the tension back down and then build it back up towards the finale.

totally feel it! it's the eps like these that cover ground and still leave information to be brought to light that makes me wanna keep going. this was the first episode that made me consider watching another one in the same sitting instead of moving on to my next task
