((Y/N)'s POV) Age: 6

It's the first day of summer now and I could not wait to put my plan into action to spend it outside of this orphanage and its rules. Instead, I can do it however I want. I got some of the money from the chocolate sales because it's not like it goes to a better summer. It's the same thing every day, so I don't think they will notice that $50 is gone. I thought about getting better food or going to an arcade or going to a fair. I had a good feeling about today and with this money, nothing was going to get in my way!

(Timeskip 30 Minutes)

There was no state fair, I couldn't find an arcade, and the place I went to to eat would not let me in. Not like I cared about their stupid nachos in that stupid bar place. I still have all of the money I took and so far I don't see an adult looking for me, so I just sat in the park. I saw a pond and walked over to it to look at myself.

(Y/N)-*Sigh*... Now, what?

I grabbed a rock and tossed it in the pond before I checked my pocket for the money... It was empty and I started to panic and look around. I saw it on a park bench, but a tiny owl was next to it before it picked it up with its mouth and started to hop away.

(Y/N)-Hey! That's mine!

I chased after it and it hopped away fast and made me go across a few blocks. It flew sometimes and went to a handbag in the bushes to start dragging it.

(Y/N)'s mind-How does something so tiny lift something that big?

(Y/N)-Would you stop hopping away?!

I love owls, but this one was really annoying. I followed it to an old and broken-looking house and it went in the door.

(Y/N)-I got you now!

I got inside to close the door, but when I did... this looked like the inside of a tent, I heard a few voices and lots of other noise on the other side with sunlight. There was a ton of junk in here, but that's not what was weird. I was sure that this house looked trashed when I saw through the windows while running up here. I say things like old jokester toys, dolls, just plain trash, and old clothes. All sorts of stuff.

(Y/N)-Where did that owl go?

I walked to the outside of the tent and I saw something that I knew was not from behind the house... A whole marketplace. I got lost in my thoughts until I bumped into... A MONSTER?!?!?!

Monster-Hey, watch it!

(Y/N)-Ahhh!

I jumped back and hit a shelf that made stuff fall on top of me, so I fell over. I shielded myself until I saw glass potions were floating over me. I was so confused and had my mouth opened, but then one potion came loose and accidentally poured into my mouth a little. I swallowed it, but it tasted awful.

(Y/N)-*Cough* *cough* *gag*.

???-Hey, don't drink the merchandise, kid.

I looked to see who said that and I saw a lady with pointy ears.

She put the potions back but got annoyed with the empty one, I accidentally drank... She's magic... Now, she leaned down to me and looked at my ears before she showed me the empty bottle.

(Y/N)-*Whimper* A-Am I in trouble now?

???-You drank whatever this potion was that I planned to sell and most likely don't have anything on you... You tell me.

I was about to cry, but then she raised her hand to make me listen to her. I was just so scared.

(Y/N)-Pl-Please don't tell the orphanage! I have $50! Take it, take it! *hic* *hic* J-Just don't turn me into a frog or something! *sobbing*

???-Kid, what are you on about? I was about to let you off the hook.

(Y/N)-*Sniffle* Really?

???-Not so fast though. Whatever you have has no value to me, so just work off 500 snails worth of work and... I won't turn you into anything... Assuming the potion doesn't do that.

(Y/N)-What?!

???-Which I'm sure it won't. If it was going to do something drastic, it would've done it by now.

I got up and got scared of the monsters again, so I hid behind the table of junk and looked up at the lady.

???-Name's Eda The Owl Lady. The most powerful witch on the Boiling Isles.

(Y/N)-*Sniffle* I-I'm (Y/N).

Eda-Fascinating. I got my human student at school and my roommate ducking me, so you just need to hold up a sign.

She took my hand and gave me a sign to hold up and it said, "Human Treasures". I just looked at the junk she had again. I was still scared of everything here. There was a lamp post with a pile of living flesh and eyes at the bottom, so I was shaking.

(Eda's POV)

My hand felt a little tingly, but I just ignored it because it was not the curse and not affecting my magic. Business was going the same as usual until someone looked bothered that the kid I just had holding the sign was crying and shying away from literally everything. I just sighed and went to the kid, but even tapping his shoulder made him scream and jump a little before he looked at me with fear in his eyes.

Eda-Hey, first time in a magical world and not what you thought it would be?

He nodded his head and gave me some kind of eyes and normally they would have no effect on me, but they got to me a little... It was working more by the second, so I had to wrap this up.

Eda-Hey, come on. I said I was the most powerful witch here... You like owls?

He nodded his head again, so I took Owlbert off my staff and he looked fascinated by this. This was cute, but it was over when he saw a customer come by and he was huge and weird-looking. I just got to work and (Y/N) just hid behind me.

Eda-What can I interest you in? I got potions and treasures from the human world!

He only put a wanted poster of me on the table and pointed at me. (y/N) saw this and started shaking, but I only smiled.

Eda-Buddy. Price is that high for a reason. You sure you want to do this?

He was about to act me, but with one quick spell I made a portal for his fist and it came out to the side of his jaw for a clean knock.

Eda-Hahahahahaha!

I turned to see (Y/N) looking scared of me now.

Eda-Oh come on, that was funny.

???-It's Eda!

I looked to see a bunch of guards running this way, so I used magic to quickly pack up everything and grab the kid.

Eda-Time to go! Hope you aren't afraid of heights!

I hopped on my staff and took off into the sky and he just clung onto me. He had this kind of sweet smell to him. It was also funny looking how he didn't know to either hold on to the staff or me. I just took him back home with me and he was still clinging onto me and the staff with one arm each and his eyes were screwed shut.

Eda-We landed kiddo.

((Y/N)'s POV)

I slowly opened my eyes and got on the ground to catch my breath. Eda got off her staff and walked towards her house and I decided to follow her inside and when she opened the door, she snapped her fingers to use magic to turn on the lights.

Eda-Welcome to The Owl House... It's a place where I hide from the law and my ex-boyfriends.

(Y/N)-Um... Ms. Eda... witch?

Eda looked at me and gave me a little bit of a scary smile.

Eda-Scared you were helping a criminal?... Because you were helping the most wanted criminal around here... You wanna know what I did? ~

I backed up against the wall and she leaned over me to give me a normal and relaxed small.

Eda-I didn't join a witch's convent and limit my magic. The end.

(Y/N)-... That's it?

Eda-It's a long story kid. Don't worry, I'll send you back to your orphanage after you pay off the potion you drank.

I don't know how long that will be, but suddenly, I heard the front door open and someone walked in.

???-Hey Eda, I'm home and-.

She saw me with Eda in the living room and I saw her ears were not pointing like Eda's ears were, so I think this is her human student. I only made it to her waist at height. I waved to her and...

???-*Gasp* He's so cute! ~

She sprinted to me and I screamed before she scooped me up and hugged me tightly. I never got a hug like this and I could not break free.

Eda-Calm down Luz. He's just here for a little while to help pay off a potion he accidentally drank. not sure what it was though.

Luz-Was it a cuteness potion? I could pinch his little cheeks. ~

I tried to push away from her again, but that was until...

???-Oh my gosh, it's a new friend!

(Y/N)-AAAAAAHHHHHH!!!

(Luz's POV)

I took (Y/N) to my room after his encounter with Hooty, so I think he just needs some human time. I even gave him some hugs and cuddles to make him feel better and he smelled so sweet and made me feel fuzzy inside. I can't wait to show him to Willow and Amity tomorrow. It's a shame Gus can't make it. Until then, it looked like I got him to myself, so we talked and I found out he was an orphan which made me want to cuddle him more.

Luz-How could someone not want to pick you up and keep you forever and ever?!

(Y/N)-I-I don't know... Also, it's hard to breathe. *muffled*

I let him go a little to get his face out of my belly and sat up from lying on my sleeping bag. Next, I asked him how he found his way past the door and he started from just wanting to have a free and fun summer, so he took $50, but Owlbert snatched it when he wasn't looking. Similar to my story of how I got here.

Luz's mind-Poor baby boy. He just wanted to have a fun summer, like me. ~

Luz-Well... Maybe you don't have to go back. You can have fun here.

(Y/N)-But what about the monsters... Like the one in the door.

Luz-Hooty is harmless as long as you live here. He's just weird

He was thinking about it and I think I have something to seal the deal.

Luz-You can come to see my friends Willow and Amity tomorrow. Willow and Amity are the sweetest people you will ever meet.

Before he could answer, the door opened and Eda came in and for some reason, she was blushing a little.

Eda-Hey, I overheard you and I don't have spare rooms.

Luz-He can sleep with me! It can be like a sleepover every night in here!

Eda-The sleeping bag is barely enough for when King sleeps with you... Where is King anyway?

Luz-Last I saw him, he was planning revenge on someone who mistook him for a stuffed animal.

(King's POV)

King's mind-Just a little bit to the left... Come on... It is right there!

I was moments away from glorious revenge being mine. The trip wire will open the cage and let a bunch of fairies out to terrorize them. Just then, the fool was inching to the trip wire and I prayed to the titan that this would work, but... the cage did not open and the fool left. I left my hiding spot and kicked the box before I heard there was nothing in there.

King-Huh?

I opened the box and only found a bunch of fruit.

King-Where did my fairies go?!

(No POV)

Meanwhile, there was a restaurant under attack by angry fairies. Guards came in, only to be chased out.

((Y/N)'s POV)

Eda was taking me to her room and she said that she sleeping in a nest which I thought was another word for bed, but... it was actually a nest. She said it was bigger and I could sleep here tonight after dinner. Luz was unhappy when she took me from her to get a little tour of the house and met King while he was throwing a fit... He even did a whiney scream... It was so cute and funny. The rest of the day was meeting everyone in the house, but Hooty creeped me out the most and was just really weird. And I even like owls.

Hooty-I love meeting new friends that I can just for hours, and hours, and hours, and hours, and hours, and hours, and hours, and hours, and hours, and-!

Luz-Hooty, there's a big bug outside!

Hooty-Oh my gosh, it's a bug!

He rushed outside and the door slammed shut and Luz picked me up before King came back in, so she held both of us.

Luz-It has to be illegal for both of you to be so adorable! ~

That's when Eda came in and she had some weird-looking food for us to eat and Luz would warn me about some of it.

This was all weird and not how I pictured my summer, but at the orphanage, I would be doing the same thing every day.

(Eda's POV)

I can't explain it, but the more I am around this kid, I already felt so attached to him. He's cute and all, but I'm not one to roll over for cute things. When it was bedtime, I just took him to my room, went straight to bed, and planned to just take a shower in the morning. Looks like he had a long day too because he looked tired. He insisted on laying on top of me and not on my nest, but... I didn't have a problem.

Eda's mind-Get a hold of yourself. It's been one day and he is only here to work off the potion... How much would that potion be?... 500 snails... 1,000... 10,000... 100,000?

I mentally slapped myself and knew whatever he accidentally drank and did not even affect him could be worth that much...

Eda's mind-101,000. Final price.

While Eda and (Y/N) went to sleep, little did Eda know that she was breathing in a pheromone through the night. That sweet smell was making her turn in her sleep a little, but she also gripped (Y/N).
