((Y/N)'s POV)

I was just finishing the last of my chores for the day before I have to stay away from the house for a while to not get sick. Tanjiro even helped, but his sister was in the box the whole time for some reason. I wanted to ask why but that might be something personal, so I went out to go play alone until other kids come out. When I made it to the forest, I thought maybe I could find a pet to bring back home. We already have farm animals, so I don't think it would be too much of a problem. Soon I found something, and it looked so cute... They also make good pets since I saw someone sealing them before.

If I wanted to catch it, I gotta surprise them and be ready to grab them. I tip toed over to a bush to just wait to jump and grab them, but that was ruined when I stepped on a stick to make it snap then it started to run.

(Y/N)-Get back here!

It was getting away even if I was running as fast as I could.

(Tanjiro's POV)

I had to stay to look out for the other demons that are said to be in this area and since this family is giving us shelter, I was happy to help in any way I could. More people came to help, but most of the work was done and her son was off playing, so everything should go smoothly... At least that was until a gust of wind gave off a scent that didn't smell that faint.

Tanjiro's mind-A demon.

The sun is out, so they should be in hiding. I just need to find it and slay it before it can come out at night and hurt anyone else. They have this just fine, so I told them I was going to head out for a bit to get some food for us later.

Tanjiro's mind-Just because they're in hiding, doesn't mean I can afford to waste time. Gotta hurry.

((Y/N)'s POV)

I was looking for the rabbit since it got far away but I could see its tracks in the ground easily. I thought it might be hiding and since there are no bears or anything like that around here, but I did have to watch out for snakes. Soon I saw a cave that the tracks led into, but I saw other tracks and that looked... kinda weird.

(Y/N)-Huh? What the?

I took a closer look and saw that the tracks don't come out and they kinda looked like a human but there were scratch marks to show they had claws and they were deep, so they were heavy or carrying something heavy. I looked into the dark cave, and it was too dark to see very deep into it.

(Y/N)-Hello... Is someone in there?

???-... Hello? *echo*

I couldn't see who it was that spoke to me, but I tried to look around to see if I could find out about this person even more. His voice was deep which did match the look of a big guy, but why are his toenails so sharp? They even slightly scratched the rock floor of the cave.

(Y/N)-Um... Did you see a rabbit come in?

???-You mean this one? *echo*

Soon the rabbit came rushing out of the cave and from its eyes, I saw that it was really scared. There were even a few tiny cuts on its back that were not there before and looked like it was from a hand... His fingernails were sharp too.

(Y/N)-Um... I gotta go. My mommy might be calling me.

???-Oh, c-can you help me, please? I got hurt last night and it's really hard to get up.

I looked at the tracks again and I know what normal foot printed looked like, but I was not completely sure about him... I do wanna help if he really is hurt... but I saw some adults who make up stuff and cry fake tears.

???-Please, at least pour something on my eye. It hurts too much to do it myself.

(Y/N)-I... I guess.

He sounded like he was telling the truth. I stepped into the cave, but it was so dark at first until my eyes adjusted. That's when I saw how deep this cave was and there was even a hole that looked like someone dug it... Suddenly something big jumped out and I fell backwards on my back then when the man landed... His-... Its eyes...

(Y/N)'s mind-WHAT IS THAT THING?!?!?!

???-Hehehe, hahahahah, HAHAHAHA!!!

I tried to run, but they were really fast and grabbed me by the back of my shirt. I saw the blood and chunks in it drip from his mouth as he opened up... HE WAS GOING TO EAT ME!!!

(Y/N)-M-MOMMY HELP!!!

I just closed my eyes to wait for him to bit me, but something hit him and sent him flying to the wall. I was too scared to open my eyes again and I was so scared I was frozen.

???-Who said you get to eat him! You got the last human!

???-Back off! I caught him first!

???-Oh yeah!

I heard them fighting and it didn't last long because I heard bones being broken and other horrifying sounds. I don't know for sure, and I don't want to know.

???-Next time you will learn your place! When I catch something first, I don't share!

I was crying now knowing I was going to die, and nobody was going to help or save me. He grabbed me again and the only thing I could do was scream until...

*SLASH*

It didn't hurt, so I opened my eyes to see 'him'.

I looked to see 8 other monsters here then the box was opened and Nezuko came out and looked at me.

Tanjiro-Nezuko, keep him safe! Make sure no other demon touches him!

She only held me tighter and turned me away from the 'demons' and her brother then I saw something amazing... He was so fast that it only took him a second to cut off all their heads. It's almost like he disappeared. Nezuko grew taller to where she could hold me while curling up and her eyes looked like they were... I don't know, but if I think about it...

(Y/N)'s mind-Is she... a demon too?

She only nuzzled my head as tears slipped out and... she wasn't faking it.

(Nezuko's POV)

I could see how terrified he was, and he was not even seconds away from getting eaten before my brother and I showed up. Humans... they must be protected. They are my family. He is... He's...

Nezuko's mind-My baby brother.

He still whimpered as I nuzzled his neck and Tanjiro just watched as I comforted him. Soon we checked him to see he wasn't bleeding, but his heart rate was too fast, and he had to calm down. I rocked back and forth gently until we saw that it got cloudy outside for now, so it was safe for me to go out.

Tanjiro-Nezuko, i'm sure he can walk. We'll do one more check tonight before we leave.

That was the plan all along, but just then my heart shattered. Just was we left the cave and headed back to the farm, on the way my brother noticed something before the ground began to shake.

Tanjiro-JUMP!!!

I did what he said and held (Y/N) in my arms but in midair I was grabbed by a tentacle, and this grip was so strong, but I managed to keep them from crushing (Y/N). We were thrown high and far into the air, and I saw my big brother shrinking in the distance.

Tanjiro-NEZUKO!!!

The force from this knocked the air out of (Y/N) and the thin air was making it harder on him. We were so lucky it was nothing but clouds in the direction we were thrown, or I would die, and he would die from impact. When we landed, we were far from the mountain. It took a bit for me to recover and thankfully I broke (Y/N)'s fall, but he was out cold.

Nezuko's mind-Thank goodness.

I got up and looked at the sky just to see more clouds, but some looked thin, so I had to find shelter and soon. There was a town nearby from my journey here, but Tanjiro has all the money, so we can't stay at an inn... It was my only chance, so I dashed off there and tried to think of something then fate has blessed me with an answer... sort of. It was a house that looked abandoned, and I don't know who might own it or be inside, but with the sunlight threatening to come out, I went inside to quickly close the doors, windows, and curtains. To have some light, I found some candles and matches. I wish I could use my blood demon art to light them easily, but I can only burn demons and their abilities with it.

(Timeskip To Evening)

((Y/N)'s POV)

I was starting to wake up and it was dark in here wherever I was, so maybe it was nighttime. When I opened my eyes, I saw I was in a different house. This house also looked like it was falling apart a little and all the curtains and everything were closed. I got up to see I was sleeping under an old blanket and using a robe as a pillow then I heard someone coming in... It was Nezuko and she had fruit with her.

She saw I was awake then rushed to me and pushed me back down then tuck me back in this homemade bed. She rubbed my head and I just felt so scared and wanted to go home to my mommy. When I tried getting up again, she only held a slice of a peach to me while not even letting my arms leave the blanket.

Nezuko-Ahhhh.~ *muffled*

Seeing that did make me hungry but I wasn't a baby that had to be fed by someone else, so I was gonna fight her about this to feed myself.

(Timeskip 5 Minutes)

(Nezuko's POV)

My baby brother was just so cute when he was fussy, and he was finally letting me feed him the fruit I risked my life to get him. It was worth it to see those chubby cheeks and I got to rub them while he was chewing. I know my big brother must be looking for me, so we'll stay here for a while and if he doesn't show, i'll leave him a sign saying I was here. After he was feed, I pulled out a big tub I filled with water from a pump in the house. It took a while to fill with clean water and heat up, but I really wanted to pamper my baby brother to make a good first impression... The only problem was the part with getting his clothes off, but he was all sweaty in the clothes and stunk, so if I leave him like that, he might get sick I was not having any of that.

(Y/N)-What are you doing?! Stop it! I can bathe myself!

This is supposed to help us bond and I was easily winning this fight. It only took 2 minutes to get him ready for the tub. The soap here was all dusty, so I had to wash it off first and I understand why he is flustered so much, but once he gets used to this, he'll see it's a blessing. My youngest brother liked to act big and strong, but he was a softie to comfort and being doted on.

Nezuko's mind-You'll love being my little brother... You won't be going back home until you do... 'If' you want to go back home.~
