Hey everyone!

Here's kind of a weird poll, but last night I got kind of a clever idea for a dynamic fighting system that allows people do a little bit more during combat. The rules aren't necessarily Fifth Edition (I'm thinking of basing them on BRP, Call of Cthulhu's system), but they really do make combat feel more fluid where high Dexterity allows a character to take multiple attacks during a turn.

Anyways, I'm not sure how to flavor this ruleset, so I'm asking you—if I made a quickie fighting game ruleset, what theme would you prefer?

Errol Flynn swashbuckling. Similar to gdRioss24's bar brawls, but not limited to inside/bars

You're going to need to expand the size of the combat rounds. Look back at 1e & 2e AD&D, esp. some of the variant rules in UA and Dragon Magazine. There's good stuff in there that got lost in the newer editions. Back in the day, I used to have a swashbuckler/rogue that used a 2 weapon style, a rapier for the attack, and a main-gauche for active defense/2nd strikes of opportunity. On a critical parry, it opened up the opponent's defenses, dropping their AC temporarily and adding to their initiative in the next round. It was one of my favorite characters.

I’m building it on a new system based on BRP with some mechanics stolen from board games
