What is DMDave focusing on in 2020? (Patreon)
Content
Hey everyone,
I spent 2019 kinda looking for my groove with Patreon. We had some pretty wild ups and downs along the way, and those who've stuck through it... you guys are awesome. You know who you are. I really didn't figure out my niche until October when I started turning towards exclusively adventure writing.
Based on the results of 2019, I plan on keeping 2020 focused on just a few areas.
Those areas are:
* Omeria. This is the only campaign world I'm writing on. Everything ties directly into that. Of course, the adventures are flexible enough that you can put them anywhere you want. But all the other campaign worlds I've tried jumpstarting in the past are on indefinite hold.
* Monsters. Daily monsters will continue. They're easy to write and give me something to fill the time while I'm working on larger adventures. I feel like shit if I don't get at least one thing out each day.
* Adventures. The majority of the content I produce will be adventures, roughly 5,000 words per day of content (but not all of it will drop at once). That's not to say that I won't throw in a few player options here and there that help add to the flavor, but I am basically one of the only highly-prolific 5e adventure writers on the internet right now that isn't on DMGuild. It's my competitive advantage and I'd be nutso to put my focus in other areas that you can just as easily find on Reddit.
And that's pretty much it.
Now, of course, this all adds up to roughly 150-pages (75,000 words) of content every month. This all goes into BSM, etc, too.
As for all the side projects and nifty ideas I have, man... I'd love to get to them all. But my time is incredibly limited. Right now I work a full-time job that's pretty demanding of my time. Until I leave that job (which I don't really have a timeline for), this is the maximum level of content I'll be able to produce. Which, of course, is still a buttload. I also have a family to worry about. And you know, the occasional TV show binge.
Having said that, I will probably activate a direct request program. This policy will allow people to make requests that can be, well, anything. But it will be done outside of my Patreon and opportunity costs will play a major factor in that.
Anyways, I hope you all don't take this as me griping. I just feel it's fair to upfront with where my focus is and what I plan to do with the Patreon. After all, you are all "shareholders" in this operation. Haha
If you have any questions, concerns, interests, whatever, just holler at me on here or on discord. Of course, if none of this works for you, I dig it. No harm, no foul.
Thanks all and I look forward to producing more bad ass 5e content in 2020.
