Hey all! I'm probably going to be hitting the 100 patron goal today, which means I'll need to start cooking up some adventures. Already, you've seen the map I'll be working with (dang, donjon is cool, right?)

Now I just need some theme ideas!

What do you mean by theme?

Basically, each of the major releases by "them wizards" has a theme to it.

  • Dragons: Dragon Queen's Hoard/Rise of Tiamat
  • Undead/Gothic: Curse of Strahd
  • Elemental Evil: Princes of the Apocalypse
  • Underdark: Out of the Abyss
  • Giants: Storm King's Thunder
  • Megadelve: Dungeon of the Mad Mage
  • Jungle/Tomb of Horrors: Tomb of Annihilation
  • Urban: Dragon Heist
  • Various: Tales from the Yawning Portal

Now, there's a couple stipulations with what I'm able to make here.

For one, I can't use a lot of "classic" D&D monsters, namely beholders and mind flayers and a few other iconic beasts, because they're locked up with the Open Gaming License. I also can't set it in the actual FR campaign setting.

Second, looks like most folks are interested in adventures that go through levels 1 through 11, so that's probably how I'll structure it. That means some challenges, such as Ancient Red Dragons, may not be in the cards.

Anyways, I thought I'd get your gears turning by creating a poll that includes each of the monster categories in the game. And then building out the concept based on the monster type.

Then we'll go from there.

Zombies have been done to death (pun intended)...

Gravy

Personally I'd love to see Dragon subclasses or Dragon worshipers such as Dragon Priests, Dragon Sorcerers, a draconic warlock patron of some sort, a dragon style fighting monk, a paladin of Tia-mat, etc. I'd even be willing to help kickstart or finance the start of that myself.
