This is something I've always wanted to do.  Thanks to YOUR SUPPORT on Patreon, I was able to rent a Phantom V7510.  These things are quite expensive to rent, so thanks for making this happen!  There's so much complicated stuff going on mechanically in this video that I've decided to do a Patreon live stream for those supporting at that level. There's a lot to talk about in the high speed. I'll schedule that for sometime next week!   If you're in the U.S., I hope you have a safe and fun Holiday weekend!

Hey Destin, I was thinking, maybe there is a non Newtonian fluid that you could use for this that is transparent? It would be perfect if you had a fluid that has a high viscosity under low stress and low viscosity under high stress. That way the bulb will explode significantly more. Just an idea. Loved the video again

Just wondering if you would get an interesting pattern if you set the PRD in the Ultra clear ballistic gel? Because it's a controlled viscosity, and you could then cut it into sections - A physical MRI :)

If you ever have another stab at this and trying stuff with epoxy, may I suggest a colab with Xyla Foxlin? She is an awesome maker and very experienced in all things epoxy.

That was a fun and informative video, like always. If you are wanting to try different materials, I suggest PDMS (polydimethylsiloxane). It’s a two-part, thermally cured material that has a broad range of viscosity and high optical clarity. Depending on your A:B ratio, you can end up with a flexible rubber or rigid solid. If this is of interest, I’m happy to provide more details.

Awesome video Destin. Thanks so much for trying to teach an old dog new tricks. Love your videos! Take care.

Anyone know what level of patron gets the livestreams? The descriptions don’t mention it since he changed up the tiers.

I had a grin, ear to ear when you finally got the PED to stay put in the epoxy when it exploded

We learned a lot about working with epoxy resin while restoring a fiberglass fishing boat. I think you could get a lot better results if you try some different epoxies, particularly some slow cure ones, or those intended for casting. We got some from http://www.uscomposites.com/epoxy.html and had good luck, but not sure how well they'd work for casting. That smoke you're seeing tells me that it's curing too fast, and I'll bet that's why you're seeing the air bubbles and had so much trouble with the clarity on the larger boxes. The smaller boxes also probably helped dissipate heat, and mixing the epoxies in an ice bath can buy you some pot life. Couple things worth trying next, at least, if you can get more PRDs.

It’s always easier to be a critic/suggester than a doer, but I came here to add my vote to ironing out your epoxy skills.

Destin and team, Super awesome. Just the brighten up our whole family needed. Also loving the community engagement on this one. Lots of skilled folks on here with epoxy! And we’re all so glad you came up with the next Patreon gift! 🤣🙏
