Good morning! ☀️️️

Today marks the release of yet another major update to the Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D 4K texture pack! Version 1.8.0 includes 200+ new textures, covering the UI, environment, characters, enemies and effects. This time focusing primarily on Kokiri Forest, Jabu Jabu's Belly, Lon Lon Ranch and Hyrule Field, as well as several of the surrounding areas. And also, this update improves support for the OoT3D Free Camera Control Mod as well! The update has many other improvements as well- Check out the full changelog down below!

This was posted in the previous updates' post as well, but as a reminder (or if this is your first time using the Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D 4K texture pack), Here are the default key bindings for using the bottom screen with your controller;

  • D-Pad Up: Free Cam (First Person View)
  • D-Pad Left: Ocarina
  • D-Pad Right: Item Slot 1
  • D-Pad Down: Item Slot 2
  • Select: Items Menu
  • Left Joystick Button: Gear
  • Right Joystick Button: Map

You may need to set these bindings again on your own controller in case Citra does not recognize it automatically. Simply double click the input button for each respective button and press the corresponding button on your controller and you should be good to go! See this video for detailed instructions on how to set everything up!

This should make the game much more enjoyable, especially if you're playing on a TV where you definitely don't want to be switching around between different controllers mid-action.

200+ New Textures!

This update includes over 200 new 4K textures. This includes environment textures such as the ground, walls, stone tiles, stairs and bricks, carpets, wooden panels etc. New foliage textures such as remade and improved tree and leaf textures, as well as new and enhanced water textures. And at last, the insides of Jabu Jabu's Belly have finally been re-textured, now looking leagues better (and even more gross) than before! There are tons of miscellaneous textures as well that have been completely remade, such as bomb flowers, pusable blocks inside of several dungeons, clouds, Deku Sticks, Big Octo, the Great Deku Tree, vines, many of the gravestones and many more. Like in previous updates, it helps it all comes together really nicely and makes the whole pack feel a lot more polished and complete. The details all add up!

And finally, a darker final battle!

The final battle of the game has been modified and should now display a lot darker, like the N64 version!

Citra has been overhauled: Say good-bye to stuttering and texture loading bugs!

This is arguably the most impactful of the updates so far, but thanks to work by GPUCode Citra has now received a complete overhaul of it's custom textures backend, more or less completely fixing the issues that have been plaguing 3DS texture packs for years! This includes fixes for more or less all the stuttering that could occur whenever new textures were loaded in, as well as a fix for the infamous "texture corruption" bug which would commonly occur in games when texture packs were enabled at the same time as Linear Filtering or any active upscale filters. This means that you're also now free to use any upscale filters you like alongside the texture pack- it's a win win for everyone!

Improved support for the OoT3D Camera Control Mod!

This update finally brings some improved support for the OoT3D Camera Control Mod by @GarciaLnk, which lets you control the camera freely in 360 degrees just like in Majora's Mask 3D and other modern Zelda games! Simply download the mod from their GitHub page here and follow the instructions (you may need to rename the included citra emulator .exe from "Zelda Ocarina of Time 3D 4K.exe" to "citra-qt.exe" for the mod to work properly with the texture pack).

More Japanese translation textures thanks to work by "LINK"

Tomoki Sato (a user who goes by the name "LINK") has generously been helping with translating most of the UI textures over to Japanese! The first batch covering most of the textures has been added in this update, with more getting included in future releases. Please follow them on Twitter here: https://twitter.com/LINK_genkaiya

Updated Shader presets (Henriko Ultra 6.0 and N64 Style 2.0!)

The two default shader presets that come with the pack have been updated and improved in this version! Henriko Ultra 6.0 looks sharper and less washed out than the 5.0 version, and the N64 Style 2.0 shader looks closer to the N64 version and now has appropriate aspect ratio scaling by default. Oh, and both also perform noticably better as well!

And many bugs fixes, optimizations and minor changes...

Minor issues from the previous version has been fixed. Performance has also been marginally improved due to the previously described optimizations. This should lead to a more polished and overall enjoyable experience for everyone using the texture pack.

And like before; Glorious 60 FPS! (Still in beta though, so read carefully!)

Re-post from previous updates:

The 60 FPS patch is a first-time feature for Ocarina of Time 3D, and makes the game display in a buttery smooth 60 frames per second instead of the usual 30. This makes the game not just nicer to look at, but also makes it more responsive and reduces input lag. However, this feature is still in beta and has a several bugs with workarounds (you need to perform some special actions in certain instances to avoid the game from softlocking, for example. Instructions and more information is provided with the download!) Since the 60 FPS mode isn't quite ready for prime time yet, it's included as an optional special version which you can use if you're feeling adventurous (and don't mind doing a little bit of manual work!) The instructions are, like stated previously, included with the download. Have fun! :]

Selecting your game region (if you're using the PAL/European or Japanese version of the game);

All you need to do now, if you're using the European version of Ocarina of Time 3D, click the "Run this if you're using the PAL (European) version of the game.bat" file inside the texture pack folder. Done! It'll now work great with your version of the game. Easy, right?

How to enable MXAO (ambient occlusion) & DoF (Depth of Field):

This means you can now experience glorious self shadowing around objects, which looks really great with OOT's fantasy art style. Try it out by doing the following:

* Set your game view to "Single" in Citra.

* Enter fullscreen in Citra.

* Press the "8" key on your keyboard, this will bring up the ReShade UI.

* Check the "MXAO" box in the list of effects.

* Go to the "Addons" tab in ReShade and check the box next to the depth buffer in the list with the highest value (it should be a very high number while all others are 0). This number will change constantly, but don't worry it's supposed to do that!

* You're done. Have fun!

That's mostly it for this update. Enjoy!

The update is available to all you Patrons here, with a public release in 1 month weeks from when this post was published!

There is also a 4K version available, if your computer can handle it! The 4K version includes higher quality textures than the 1080p version, and will work on all displays- even those that don't display in 4K resolution. It will still look better than the 1080p version, no matter the display!

Please feel free to try it out!

(Only available for the Citra 3DS emulator, the texture pack does not work on real 3DS consoles).

You can find more information about my HD texture pack here.

Download it here!

Download the 4K UI Overlay Utility here (beta)

I am only able to make things like this thanks to your support, so from the bottom of my heart, thank you for helping me do what I love!

Hello, the 30 fps version works great but when I try to open the ocarina of time.exe file to rule to game it says it will not run because libssl-1_1-x64.dll and libcrypto-1_1-x64.dll are not found. Sorry I'm new when it comes to this emulation stuff so I have no idea how to fix this. Thanks!

Hi, I really enjoyed your Majoras Mask 3d 4K, but it whenever i try opening the rom it says "Fatal Error Occurred" I do not know what this is but if you could help me out it would be much appreciated

Hola tengo un problema con el mod de 60 fps. Me sale un error : Libcryto-1_1-x64

OoT3DCameraControl mod does not work at all. Followed all the instructions, renamed the .exe as suggested and still it shows citra-qt.exe not found. Can you possibly create some detailed instructions to make it easier, or if anyone could explain how they have managed to get it to work that would be amazing.

hey henriko i need your help I am looking for the texture of the swipe that the sword leaves when attacking (that white trace) because I am creating a mod and I need to change its color Can you tell me if it is among your textures and give me the name of the image or help me find it there? I don't know who else to turn to

henrikomagnifico

Hi Bellota! Unfortunately I am not able to find the texture for the sword swipe anywhere, I'm not even sure if it's a texture that can be edited. Sorry for this inconvenience!

Hi Henriko, I followed your video instruction on how to get 60fps version to work. Unfortunately my "textures" folder keeps disappearing aswell as some other files and after I searched for the reasen, i discovered, that files are automatically hidden by windows. I cant start the 60fps ocarina of time.exe file because it tells me that there is an .dll file missing and i cant copy the textures from the 30fps version because the folder is hidden. Do you have any type of advise you could give me?

henrikomagnifico

Hi Julius! I'm currently investigating this issue and hope to find a solution to the problem shortly. I apolgize for this inconvenience!

Hey henriko, i have some questions, i am following your video instructions and when you enter on the "user,load" carpet is full of textures, but mine is empty, and the wight of the carpet is abot to 4gb and yours is like 7 and something more, am i doing something wrong?

I think im done, till the download to the install process i just cant, the game dont load the textures, both versions, i dont think that i make things wrong, its really easy the installation, what ever, you deserve my subscription because you make a great job, maybe in the future i come to see this like a AAA game hahaha, good luck bro

henrikomagnifico

Hi Andres! I'm sorry to hear you're experiencing issues with the pack installation. Are you playing the European / PAL version of the game? In that case, you must also run the included script called "DOUBLE CLICK THIS to use the PAL (European) version, or textures won't load!.bat" file inside of the folder in the texture pack directory called "IF YOU USE EUROPEAN (PAL) VERSION, RUN THIS", or else the custom textures won't load. I hope this resolves the issue!

Hello Henriko. For the most part everything is working fine, but I'm having one minor issue with the self shadowing. For some reason the shadows seem to be off center, like they're not properly aligned with the models they're suppose to be on. It makes it look like characters have a sort of shadow doppelganger following theme. Any idea what the problem could be?

henrikomagnifico

Hello Alfredo! Is the offset you're seeing relatively major or only a little offset? If it's the former, then the reason you're seeing this offset is most likely because of some setting in Citra not being set to a compatible value, resulting in the depth buffer getting offset. Just to check if this is the case, check that Citra is using the "Single Screen" layout option in the Citra > View > Screen Layout options, and that the game is set to fullscreen at the time of enabling the effect in the ReShade menu. If this fixes the problem, then that was why! If it's a minor offset, then that's unfortunately a normal side effect of the depth buffer in Citra not being 100% accurate. The depth buffer can be scaled and moved in the ReShade "Global Preprocessor Definitions" settings in the ReShade menu, and the values there can be tweaked to further align the depth buffer in that case. I have done my best to center the buffer by default, but there is still a chance to improve it slightly if more tweaking is done to it's scaling and offset values. I hope this answers your question!

Hello Henriko, I admire your work and the dedication you have put into it, it works wonderfully for me on the steam deck, I urge you to continue with the texture packs.

Hi Henriko, is there a way to put these textures on Android?

henrikomagnifico

Hello Dennis! Yes it's possible, you can see instructions on how to do this on the texture pack info page on my website here; https://www.henrikomagnifico.com/zelda-ocarina-of-time-3d-4k

Hello Henriko, I followed the instructions, but when I try to load the game the exe file crashes and nothing appears on my laptop. I tried moving the texture folders to my desktop but it did not make a difference. Any help would be appreciated

henrikomagnifico

Hello Christian! Do you have an antivirus program installed on your PC? If so, check if it blocked the .exe by mistake, since I have heard of others fixing similar problems the same way.

Helllo Henriko are you thinking to create a remastered soundtrack?, just like you did with Majoras Mask

henrikomagnifico

I would love to do it, but sadly OOT 3D does not currently support custom music insertion like Majora's Mask does :/
