Major Announcement: All 4K texture packs are now free. Completely. Yes, you read that correctly. (Patreon)

What? Why? Why are you doing this all of a sudden?

As most of you know, my texture packs have had their 4K versions locked behind Patreon, and required a green rupee rank to access previously. Whilst at first I found this to be a way to justify the time I've spent making the packs, I have now come to the conclusion that it's best for the users, the packs' longevity, and myself, if I make all my packs free.

So, the packs are just free now? How will you make a living now?

And I hope that people still want to support the continued work being done on the texture packs by continuing to support my work on Patreon! I will still have texture pack updates up on Patreon 2 weeks early, like before.

Does this have to do with being afraid of legal ramifications by Nintendo?

Partially, yes, but that's not the only reason. I know what I do is in a legal gray-zone, and whilst Nintendo hasn't done anything to affect any of the texture packs yet, I'm getting more and more anxious that they eventually will. Nintendo has a proven track record of punishing fan work of their IPs severely and suddenly, and I would much rather take a financial loss right now than risking my whole financial future.

How do I get the 4K packs now, and are there still perks to being a Patreon supporter?

Patreon donors still get all the other perks, including two weeks early access to updates and 24/7 direct support from me, Android / PNG versions and much more. The only thing that is now free, are the 4K versions themselves two weeks after the intial release. And you of course help me continue make updates and new texture packs in the future! You still access them on Patreon, through each individual post made there! Simply head to the corresponding update post and click the download link, it's as easy as that! Every post older than two weeks is now viewable and accessible to everyone!
