1.4.0d Patch information:

1.4.0d was released 14 days after the initial 1.4.0 release to fix an issue where the music would not play correctly in some locations, as a result of a bug with the update Fire Temple music. The Fire Temple music has been reverted back to the original 3DS version for now, until the issue has been properly resolved.

1.4.0c Patch information:

1.4.0c was released 10 days after the initial 1.4.0 release to fix an issue where the load folder wouldn't display for some users, causing issues when trying to move the custom textures over to the 60 FPS version.

1.4.0b Patch information:

1.4.0b was released 2 days after the initial 1.4.0 release to address some minor mistakes in the configuration, causing the 60 FPS patch to not work correctly by default. It also fixes a Qt error that says that "windows qt" is missing, as well as a mistake where the clouds had seams in the title screen and file select menu. A mistake was also addressed which caused the european version (PAL) to not work with the 60 FPS patch.

1.4.0a Emergency Patch information:

  • 1.4.0a was released 12 hours after the initial 1.4.0 release to address a mistake in the default configuration of the emulator, causing the game to run at too high speed. If you downloaded the update within 12 hours of the 1.4.0 release, you may want to re-download it to get the fixed configuration and another minor bug fix in the 30 FPS version of the pack.

🎃 Hi everyone! 🎃

Today marks the release of the next, rather spooky, major update to Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D 4K. It includes many new textures, covering both UI, environment and more. And like always, it also includes the super smooth 60 FPS patch! Please see the rest of the added features below;

This update is huge and adds many new 4K textures, and it also includes the neat 60 FPS patch to make the gameplay experience buttery smooth. Other improvements include tons of configuration changes, shader changes and other general bug fixes as well as much more!

This was posted in the previous updates' post as well, but as a reminder (or if this is your first time using Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D 4K), Here are the default key bindings for using the bottom screen with your controller;

  • D-Pad Up: Free Cam (First Person View)
  • D-Pad Left: Ocarina
  • D-Pad Right: Item Slot 1
  • D-Pad Down: Item Slot 2
  • Select: Items Menu
  • Left Joystick Button: Gear
  • Right Joystick Button: Map

You may need to set these bindings again on your own controller in case Citra does not recognize it automatically. Simply double click the input button for each respective button and press the corresponding button on your controller and you should be good to go!

This should make the game much more enjoyable, especially if you're playing on a TV where you definitely don't want to be switching around between different controllers mid-action.

Bottom of the Well 4K overhaul!

The Bottom of the Well has been completely overhauled with new 4K textures, and the blood present in the original N64 version has returned as well!

Enhanced Title Screen!

The title screen has been re-textured and is no longer using the old low quality textures from previous versions.

4K Pots, Deku Sticks and more!

For some reason pots- yes, the ones you smash all across the game, were never fully re-textured until now. Well, now they are, and they look amazing! =)

Properly fixed cloud seams!

I thought this was fixed in the previous version, but it seems I missed to fix the clouds in the adult timeline as well. That has been fixed in this version!

The original Fire Temple music is back (with chanting)!

The controversial original Fire Temple music from the original N64 game is back! You can of course disable it if you like, but I definitely think it brings some unique ambience to the dungeon itself!

"NAVI" text no longer displays constantly!

This was a simple fix, the huge "NAVI" text that appears all the time has been removed in this version. You can still hear when Navi wants you to talk with her by the "HEY!" sound she makes.

Upgraded Link's home!

Including the random piles of straw and rope bundles laying about.

Preparations for major upgrades and new features going forward...

I don't have anything concrete to announce quite yet, but all I can say is there's some really exciting things coming to OOT3D 4K in the coming months. So stay tuned! ;)

And like before; Glorious 60 FPS!

Re-post from the previous update:

This is arguably an even greater upgrade available in Zelda: Ocarina of Time 4K than any of the textures. The 60 FPS patch is a first-time feature for Ocarina of Time 3D, and makes the game display in a buttery smooth 60 frames per second instead of the usual 30. This makes the game not just nicer to look at, but also makes it more responsive and reduces input lag. However, this feature is still in beta and has a few workarounds (you need to perform some special actions in certain instances to avoid the game from softlocking, for example. Instructions and more information is provided with the download!) Since the 60 FPS mode isn't quite ready for prime time yet, it's included as an optional special version which you can use if you're feeling adventurous (and don't mind doing a little bit of manual work!) The instructions are, like stated previously, included with the download. Have fun! :]

Selecting your game region (if you're using the PAL/European or Japanese version of the game);

All you need to do now, if you're using the European version of Ocarina of Time 3D, click the "Run this if you're using the PAL (European) version of the game.bat" file inside the texture pack folder. Done! It'll now work great with your version of the game. Easy, right?

How to enable MXAO (ambient occlusion) & DoF (Depth of Field):

This means you can now experience glorious self shadowing around objects, which looks really great with OOT's fantasy art style. Try it out by doing the following:

* Set your game view to "Single" in Citra.

* Set your resolution to 10x in the Graphics Settings in Citra.

* Press the "HOME" button on your keyboard, this will bring up the ReShade UI.

* Check the "MXAO" box in the list of effects.

* Go to the "Advanced" tab in ReShade and check the box next to the depth buffer in the list with the highest value (it should be a very high number while all others are 0). This number will change constantly, but don't worry it's supposed to do that!

* You're done. Have fun!

Enjoy!

The Update is available to all you Patrons here, with a public release in two weeks from when this post was published!

There is a 4K version available, if your computer can handle it. It's a large file, over 7GB so beware of that before you download it! The 1080p version is smaller in file size, but doesn't look quite as nice. You can download both and test which one works best for you, if you want! :)

Please feel free to try it out!

(Only available for use with the Citra 3DS emulator, the texture pack does not work on real 3DS consoles).

You can find more information about my HD texture pack here.

  • Download it here!
  • Mirror Download (if the link above isn't working)
  • Mirror #2

I am only able to make things like this thanks to your support, so from the bottom of my heart, thank you for helping me do what I love!

The chanting wasn't controversial, Nintendo took it out before anyone even noticed. They didn't even have to as the track the used is real and not made by them, and in the public domain for free use. They were just super strict about their no religion stuff back then

Where is the changelog? ;)

Curious, about how much of the game's textures are completed at this point?

henrikomagnifico

Roughly 75% of the important textures have been remade! The remaining are mostly located inside of the adult dungeons. The next coming updates will focus on the remaining dungeons, and also re-doing a lot of early textures (Zora's Domain, Death Mountain etc.)

henrikomagnifico

It is included in this post above. For the more technical details I would suggest you contact me on Discord!

How does one transfer a save from one patch to another?

Anonymous

Very nice indeed, brilliant work as always. Cant wait to give this a try after I've finished Skyward Sword with the 4K pack xD

Anonymous

Just downloaded 7.9GB 4K file, no load/textures folder. User folder is just 9.42mb.

Anonymous

Thanks for the help and the effort

Nice job Thx ! All work well just one thing, with the PS4 Buttons Patch 1.3.0 (PS4 Layout) (Optional) it work only if we choose English language ... If we take another console language custom texture oesn't load.

Anonymous

Hi, My game crashes every time it tries to create a file. But this does not happen if I don't use the texture pack

henrikomagnifico

Hi Marlon! This is likely because the save folder file path is too long for Windows to handle. To fix the issue, try moving the texture pack folder somewhere else on your PC that is "higher up" on the hard drive, like your desktop!

henrikomagnifico

Hi KO Teknik! This is because the PS4 Buttons Patch layout relies on unique textures for every language, and so far only English has been properly updated with the corresponding input changes. I will update the patch to work for all languages in a future update!

How do I apply the update without losing my save game?

henrikomagnifico

Hi Mariah! Copying the save data between versions is easy. Simply open the "user" folder inside of the old texture pack version's directory and copy the folders called "sdmc", "nand" and "sysdata" over from there to the new version's "user" folder. That should do the trick!

Shakes fist at windows!!!!!!! thanks this worked for me as well!!!! Thank you for time put into these textures amazing!

i cant download the 4k package and the 1080p package also :-/

Any solution to running the USA version of the game, but the Textboxes and Cutscenes are still sped up? (I also got the crawling softlock error but it looks like there are ways around this.) Citra natively has emulation speed set to 200%. Moving it to 100% solves the issue but now the music is at half speed.

henrikomagnifico

Hi Corey! Sadly the game font can not yet be upscaled yet due to the archaic font format used by Ocarina of Time 3D, which has yet to be reverse engineered. The same goes for the cutscenes, which I still haven't managed to find a workaround for to make regular speed. Holding D-Pad down on your controller should temporarily disable 60 FPS until letting it go again, which is the way to workaround issues like the crawling softlock and some other problems (a full list of issues reported can be found on the texture pack information page on my website). All of which can more or less be circumvented by just holding D-Pad down to disable 60 FPS for that segment alone. I hope this answers your questions! :)

Default key bindings don't work. A simple guide showing how to use the bottom screen with your controller would be welcome.

Hey Henriko! Just got it running on windows 10. I was wondering if a slow down or small skip now and then is common? I have a Ryzen5800x and a GTX 1060 6gb. I'm running the 4k pack at 30fps.

cj

Another issue I'm having is that I can't seem to get the REshade UI to come up with the home button or "Shift + F2" any ideas? It says I can update Reshade but not sure if that wrecks your settings

henrikomagnifico

Hi Cj! Yes, unfortunately that's a common issue with few ways to really alleviate it as of yet. The stuttering is caused by Citra not utilising Async Texture Loading (yet), which means every time a new large texture is loaded in the game stutters for a fraction of a second. The stuttering gets lessened after playing for a while, since once the textures have been loaded in once during a session they don't have to be loaded in again later. I'd suggest you try moving the texture pack to your fastest hard drive, if it isn't there already! Preferably an M.2 SSD. That should reduce the stuttering a bit, as well!

cj

Okay awesome I get it, definitely improved once I played more, thanks! What do you think I need to do in order to get the reshader menu to pop up for me?

henrikomagnifico

Press the "HOME" key on your keyboard, it should be above the arrow keys or next to your number pad if you have a regular sized keyboard

Hi Henriko, when I try to open the Exe, I get the error message below: ''This application failed to start because it could not find or load the Qt platform plugin ''Windows'' in '' ''. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem''

henrikomagnifico

Hi Jonathan! If you're on Windows, try selecting the texture pack folder, right click > Properties > and uncheck "Write Protection". Then click "Apply", and when the box appears select "Apply changes to this folder and all subfolders and files" and then click "OK". Let me know if this did the trick!
