On the 1st of January 2022, I got my notes ready and started learning Blender, thus beginning the development of Haggard in proper. 

Today on the 1st of 2023, I woke up and rushed to my computer to write some notes down after having some sudden good ideas for Haggard in mind, then went back to sleep since I was dead tired. One of the ideas was in regards to a particular NPC's dialogue that would better contour the setting and situation surrounding the protagonist, while the other was pretty much a whole new alternative way for the player to complete one of Map05's objectives.

 I've been doing this for quite a while now, and amassed a trove of 'good ideas' - concise bullet points that will enhance Haggard from both a technical and creative perspective which will certainly overshadow Hedon one day.

The concept phase of the game is going well, albeit slowed down by some unfortunate events that plagued 2022 - especially the war which has greatly distracted me, and the litany of problems I had with my laptop (which now have been permanently addressed by me just building a damn desktop).

During this whole time, papyLaPlage has been working on the game's code, and tackling the most difficult aspects of making a stealth game, such as how we will handle light and sound propagation. I actually hope to get him along for a devlog once he is ready to show what he's been working on to you guys.


I made Haggard's plan coming from Hedon, and although it was partially naive and biased by the coding facilities of GZDoom which are far from available in any big boy engine, I am confident that we can stick to it and work on this project with the aim of fully releasing it one day. 

I will therefore continue sketching out the game's levels, since they will be the central piece bringing everything together. Maybe in the second half of 2023 I will be done with the concept phase, and be able to work on actually fleshing out the first level for the game's prototype!

Last but not least, let's not forget that I have been also working on Hedon - and dedicated quite a significant amount of time to it, although I haven't updated you on it lately. Hopefully Vostyok will finish the level he's working on soon so we can start the year strong!

Other than that, my plans for 2023 are pretty much to descend back into the kind of workaholic rage that fueled Hedon Bloodrite's creation. 2023 will be tough, and I will definitely need your support along the way, but now that I'm into this 100% there is no turning back :^)
