Recommended by Red Dwarf for me to watch and what an enjoyable movie this was!! I did not know that this was a John Hughes movie as well which made me so happy when I saw his name on screen (well he didn't direct it but wrote it). Like all other John Hughes movies on the face of the planet, it was kind of a coming of age movie about a few highschoolers navigating life and relationships. The movies premise was very simple but I thought it was executed pretty well. Keith as the protagonist was a likeable guy and while his relationship desires were interesting to watch, I actually enjoyed watching his home life more. All of the scenes within Keith's house felt so natural and real to a family situation, bar the very young genius girl, and it felt incredibly relatable. The dynamic especially between the sister and Keith was really well done and it felt like they were actually siblings as they had each others backs but still called each other names and hated each other (in a loving way). I feel like one of the reasons why people love John Hughes films isn't just because of the simplicity of the story, but because he manages to mix reality with a more fairytale style of romance and drama seamlessly. In this movie especially, the home life stuff with Keith felt very real while the romantic aspects felt like they had a little more vaseline on them so to speak. I did feel bad for Amanda though at the end. She left Mr. Uglyface for Keith (at first to get back at him and then out of something a little more) because Mr. Moldstain over here couldn't keep his hands off of other girls. Then in the end of the movie... and spoilers here... Keith leaves her for another girl! Poor Amanda man. Anyways, a fun and charming movie to watch! If you have seen any John Hughes movie, you know what to expect.

Glad you liked it! Looking forward to your reaction. I also love the soundtrack...played it a lot back when. SPOILER....yes, Amanda was left but like she said, it will feel good to stand on her own. I thought that was good for her.
