Civil Defense is a ton of fun, but only a little bit in it feels significant to me. It's basically delicious fluffy DS9 cake. So many fun scenes of bumping characters into each other in very temporary and unusual circumstances and watching them go. There's no point that really matters in it outside of seeing the interesting unexplained tension between Garak and Dukat. And seeing Dukat be fallible. But those two are nearly always interesting. Problem is that we just know the station will be okay. And that problem is intensely magnified for me watching Meridian, which I think is an Odo explodes episode. You just know none of this will matter. Dax is certainly not leaving the show this way. I mean, the definition of the Meridian plot is a plot device planet. I also don't buy the romance at all. But hey, I love that you loved it. It certainly gave me some new thoughts and feelings on a really rough episode for me to watch you having fun with it.
