Man this movie made me smile almost the entire time as well as making me want to dance in my seat! An Australian flick that I had never heard of before and by the director of Moulin Rouge! happened to be such an amazing film about dancing, expressing yourself, and a little bit of love. The dance sequences were spectacular and you could tell that the lead actors were professionals. Their movements were so smooth and hypnotic at times and their chemistry felt so real. Either they were dance partners before this movie or they are just fantastic actors because it felt like they had been dancing together long before this movie was made. The camera work was slick and clean with really long takes allowing the viewer to take in ever step and movement during the dance sequences.

This movie is also surprisingly funny and had me laughing many, many time... especially with those two children that keep popping up, they were a hoot! The movie also has a really nice emotional core with both Scott and Frans love, but also Scott's dad Doug who may very well be one of the top tier characters in any movie ever. What a wonderful lad. The music was really good as well and overall, this movie had me dancing and grinning the entire way though!

I love Strictly Ballroom! I’m a fan of Baz Luhrmann’s. Love this movie, his modern adaptation of Romeo and Juliet starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Moulin Rouge starring Ewan McGregor and Nicole Kidman and last year’s Elvis, with an electrifying performance by Austin Butler. I like his adaptation of The Great Gatsby but not as much as his other films.
