I really liked Opaka, I wish we'd seen more of her. This episode made me wonder if she could use her experience of the Bajorans vs the Cardassians to unify that moon and its warring factions.

Battlelines in itself a good episode, but it creates SO many plotholes I can't really love it. There should be a ton of ramifications from leaving the Kai behind, but they are just ignored. Storyteller is so, so. The B plot is fine, not great, but enjoyable. The actual storyteller plot is really bothering me though. As you said they should have done a lot more with the O'Brian and Bashier relationship here, but at least that's rectified later on. I also don't like the whole concept of lying to a whole village for their own good. It kind of treats the Bajorans like immature children. I know O'Brian isn't allowed to tell them because of the prime directive, but it's still something that should at least be explored from an ethical point of view.
