This is a very meta film. Gloria Swanson was an old-school silent star who did have a slight comeback after this film, and Eric Van (Max) was a former director from the silent error. James Holden considered this the film that made his career--FYI check out "Network" w/ him and Faye Dunaway which is a great depiction of TV.
