I can’t wait for season 3! This show is so fun and cute!!

At this point I would put Ferdinand in a Tsundere-lite category. While he does care for Myne, he has a very logical mind in terms of improving Ehrenfest. An example of this is that Ferdinand wants Karstedt to adopt Myne. I am using information revealed in season 2, so nothing here should be spoilery. Blue robed priests of the temple are generally not considered nobles. Ferdinand explained it was due to most blue robes entering the Temple before they are trained on how to be a noble. Ferdinand is a rare sight, as he was a noble before he entered the temple (which is why he was allowed to bring books on magic to the temple). There are reasons though why he remains at the temple and only sometimes performs his duties as a noble. Having Myne adopted by Karstedt, a leader of the Knight's Order, means she will not be looked down on as much compared to if she was Ferdinand's adopted daughter. In addition it will give her more political power to improve Ehrnfest. A two birds with one stone approach that improves Ehrenfest and Myne's safety at the same time.

Interesting fact, the green hair's name, shikikoza, comes from the Japanese word zakokishi, which means trash knight.

I usually talk about the book but I will refrain this time. I think this was an epic send off and the way it ends they could have left it there. I'm glad this got a season three! It's going to be epic. This is a long and developed story and I'm hoping for even more seasons. I hope they get a bigger budget though as animation was pretty light in the show. I know it's a lot of talking but there can be more done with it. However if less animation means they can aford to make more seasons I'll accept that. The battle scene was cool and I felt that animation for mynes mind was pretty interesting. I hope they bring some more of that energy into the anime.

FreshestAnime

Honestly I don’t even care about the animation. I’m invested in the story fully so even if it’s lower budget like it has been, I’m here for it. Now if it turns into like Ragnarok or House Husband, then I’ll have some problems.

I missed it the first time I watched this, but noticed it earlier when Main joined the church. She formed a magical contract with Lutz that Benno said would bind them for her protection as she entered Noble society. My guess is that is why he could see and hear her when her magic activated. I haven't read any of the books, but I am looking forward to seeing how their relationship progresses and what sort of growth Lutz has in his desire to protect her.

Bryce Jackson

Not to burst your bubble or anything but Lutz saw the vison of myne simply because her mana reacted to her pleading for help. The contract binds mynes idea's to Lutz not herself

2023-01-15 20:22:39 I first watched this anime the season it premiered years back, but then decided to read the novel for the series and oh my... I'm keeping up with the translation. That's 18 books and ongoing. So good! I think world building of the series is at the level I've never seen in all of my years of watching anime. It certainly is a bit skewed as we see it from Myne's perspective most of the time, but some chapters in the novel portray same or closely related events from other characters' point of view, as in that OVA where Justus goes out investigating Myne's Studio/Workshop around her neighborhood. This allows for an alternative PoV of how everything falls in place. I hope season 3 will include some of these, especially since it'll only cover 2 books' worth of reading material, where season 1 and 2 covered the first 5 books. Overall, the anime adaptation with season 1-2 has been on the brighter side when it comes to Myne collapsing, her becoming "Lutz' Myne" and things surrounding the state of the orphanage before she became the director. I doubt, but I hope S3 will provide more contrast to how they animate the happy highs and punch in the gut lows that these two books offer. There are not one or two, but a few events that were quite memorable from the books. So, actually, I doubt they'll animate side stories with alternative PoVs given more important main story developments. What I definitely want to see more of is Ferdinand and another char who becomes fans' favorite among novel readers for a few books in a row. Character was already introduced somewhere in < season 3. I think even the author was surprised to see that char becoming popular 😅 Speaking of Ferdinand, Joe, if you can't decide on whose side Ferdinand really is and how to feel about him, you're not alone. Ferdinand is really hard to get a read on from our own (modern society's moral norms) point of view. It's part of what makes the series great. The noble society is quite complex, and besides some happy-go-lucky and aloof characters representing that society, it takes time to process and try to understand the "why s." Anyways, great series. Getting excited for some new episodes. P.s. The ground healing after trombe extermination was interrupted by Ferdinand, which have been a let down to me. But, yeah, I think the moment Ferdinand saw even the extent to which she healed earth there, he got on guard, stopped her, and had to probe the memories so as to know "who" he's dealing with. One thing she's abnormal for a commoner child: poor health, odd behavior, comming up with new inventions and becoming a forewoman pre baptism. Another thing is being a child suffering of Devouring who lived until their baptism with significant mana (an unheard-of occurrence).

Oh, and a bit more about Trombe. The reason why the brown hair guard had to talk out the incantation before attempting to cut it down 1st is because, in my understanding, of how the black weapons work and because he’s a noble with mana. If he gets hurt while trying to cut it down, it’ll only empower the mana hungry plant. Having anyone with mana near one of those trees without God of Darkness protected weapon is really risky. Trombe grow by feeding on mana. Remember how Myne only touched their seeds and they sucked out mana in previous episodes? Yeah. Now, those who wields the black weapon (imbued with God of Darkness protection) will steal the mana of the creature they attack, humans included (important to note for later) and give it back to the wielder or elsewhere, depending which version of the black weapon incantation one uses. Brown hair dude is shocked to see it not work, but it doesn’t mostly because he’s “lesser noble”, per Schicza, and because Myne’s blood continues to drip on the ground. Ferdinand attacks it with black weapon from above before landing (arrows), but nothing happens as well, so as he lands, he asks for more info as to why/what’s really happening that it’s not working at 1st try. Myne gets what he’s really asking, so she says, “blood”. The sealing of the wound is not a healing, but more of a way to trick ones body. It’s not pertinent to anything beside this episode (even after reading far ahead into LNs, so I’ll expand on it.) Pretty much if someone else forces mana into the wound of another person, the other person’s mana will counterflow to stop the entry of that person’s mana into the body and create a seal/patch up the wound. That’s why Ferdinand voices that using mana this close to Trombe is an unwise move on his part. That’s what he means, really. This line in anime is totally out of context otherwise. For that he has to undo God of Darkness/black weapon. Once it’s undone, he can’t cast it again so trying to cut Trombe again won’t work. The best he can do is call for help with a signal. Kind of lame, but let’s say, by default, there are various restrictions and pre defined protocols of how Knights Order deals with both specific species of all mana related creatures, emergency situations, and guard duties. Safety is top priority 100%.

🤔🤔🤔🤔 interesting. Thanks for the informative comment. I haven’t read the LN yet obv. But as I get more time I hope I do so one day.
