Mother of Learning Chapter 65: Dangerous Ground, a fantasy fiction | FictionPress

An hour later, they realized they had taken the place too lightly. The landscape held no predators trying to ambush them, but it was exceptionally hard and dangerous to traverse on foot. The ground was rough and uneven, with a labyrinthine arrangement of ridges and rocky outcroppings, it was often far less solid than it appeared to be at first glance.

So...are ZZ ever going to suggest to the Silent Doorway Adepts that the time loop is a perfect opportunity to test the effects of drilling a mana well next to their Gate?

nobody103

Silent Doorway Adepts do not trust them that much. Note that this would require them to risk the destruction of their gate, which would spell doom to their whole web. It's one thing to accept someone is a time traveler, it's another to resolve yourself to do reckless, possibly self-destructive testing like that because you know your future self (which you will never meet) is going to benefit from it. As for ZZ themselves, they have no reason to sour their relationship with SDA by pushing for this idea. They may try to do some experiments on other Gates outside the colony and see if they can learn how to do safe modifications of their own Gate that way, though.

FINALLY, finally Damian being in Koth is acknowledged. Hopefully we get to meet him next chapter. Also I have a feeling watching the fifteen spiders do the ritual must have looked REALLY odd. I wonder how they will circumvent the gate ritual issue.

I'm confused. If the simulacrum can create a dimensional gate from Koth to Eldamar know that they've been there, why are they struggling to get their now? Can't they just open a portal to Koth now that they have their destination? Why do they even need the Bakora Gates?

Gate spell needs to be cast from each exit at the same time. Like someone in Koth needs to cast the spell while someone casts it in Cyoria.

Yeah! It seems that we will finally meet him and clear lot of pending questions. I wonder if he is "open" or not.

Okay, I know this does not have anythng to do with THIS chapter, but I would love it if Zorian found out about the flying solution(migratory birds) being a legitimate solution AFTER they get the gate stuff working. Would be amusing after all the research everyone has done on how far and fast birds can get in a day or two.

Domagoj, gotta question for you. You've clearly been building up to a Zorian acquiring some sort of enhanced ability throughout the story via blood magic and needing to find the "right" enhancement that is a combination of useful and inexpensive in terms of what it takes up in his mana capacity. My question is - as I think you may have been somewhat telegraphing this - is how 'hard' would it be to incorporate the magic sight/sense of a Grey Hunter? Because that seems like it would be the broad scale skill that would be IMMENSELY useful to Zorian based on how he is starting to reach his plateau of a lot of his mana-shaping skills and general spellwork.

It would be neither especially hard nor especially easy. The only issue is that there is no existing ritual to do that circulating around (grey hunters are too rare for that), meaning Zorian would have create one from scratch and then tinker with it repeatedly until he gets something optimized enough for his liking. Less of an issue inside the time loop than it would be outside of it, but still. It would be wiser for him to start with something more conventional at first, even if he ultimately doesn't intend to keep them for real in the end, just to get some practice.

hahaha YES I would love to see this happen in the book, preferably including Zorian face palming.
