Merry Christmas and a happy New Year, dear patrons. I hope you are enjoying your holidays and life is going well.

It's been some time since I last posted, and in the meantime at least one thing has happened: I decided on Zenith of Sorcery as my next story to focus on.

The main decider for me was that I realized I didn't like the idea of setting Infinite Dungeon in the version of our world. It comes with too much baggage. However, since that meant I would have to create a brand new modern-tech world for the story, and that would mean further delays. That is... not ideal. On top of that, my mind was wandering towards Zenith of Sorcery more than Infinite Dungeon as I considered story plans, and I took that as a sign that I would have more enthusiasm for that story than Infinite Dungeon.

Infinite Dungeon idea is still going to get slowly worked on in the background, since I still like the idea. But who knows when that might come to fruition, if ever.

So there it is. I'm hoping to actually produce something in a month or two, now that I have a better idea where to focus my energies. Hopefully I didn't disappoint the fans of the Infinite Dungeon idea too much.

That's it for now. Thank you all for your patience.

Why even set Infinite Dungeon in a modern day setting? I would find a fantasy setting with an established/entrenchend non-innate magic system or a scifi "money literally is power" setting as the real world much more interesting. :Ü™

Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas! I really like both ideas, but to be honest Zenith sounds like the "less explored" story concept, especially if well executed. Maybe that's just my "I want to see what happens with powerful mage Zorian!"-bias subconsciously influencing me in favor of this story. Have fun writing and stay healthy! :)

Happy holidays! I'm very excited to see where you choose to go with Zenith.

Well, part of the appeal of the idea for me was the interaction of a outright magical system with a relatively mundane world. So fantasy is not an option. Scifi is possible, but only near-future scifi, because the major secret of the whole premise requires a planet-bound civilization.

Merry Christmas! Looking forward to Zenith!

Merry Christmas! Zenith was my first choice so I am happy. I am looking forward to seeing a protagonist who is not new to his powers .

Oh, hey. Nice to hear from you. Great choice! I'm not biased of course (my sympathy to those, who's favorite idea wasn't picked up). Happy holidays, everybody! P.S. I would be interested to hear your thoughts on alternate modern world worldbuilding, if you'd opt to share them.

Thanks for the update, and Merry Christmas! All the best with your new story.

Thanks for the update. I‘m sad to see the decision against Infinite Dungeon, but your comment leaves at least hope that it might get written by you someday. No matter the decision though, I‘m glad to be able to read your new story next year. Happy Holidays and all the best to you in the year to come.

Happy new Year, and also stay safe!

Merry Christmas! Anyone else find it funny that the premise of Zenith of Sorcery sounds like it could easily be a description of The Continuing Adventures of Zorian and Friends? Like, it literally sounds like it's picking up right where Mother of Learning left off.

Re-reading the pitch for Zenith, it sounds like the protagonist, Marcus King, would be more or less what I would expect Zorian to be in his older years, I know it is not the same setting as MoL, although I wouldn't mind if it were, how would you compare Zorian and Marcus in terms of power and personality?

nobody103

As you note, they're not the same settings and the two magic systems aren't entirely comparable... but I'd say Marcus is somewhat more powerful than Zorian at the end of MoL, though focused in different fields. Marcus doesn't use mind magic or golems, for instance. As for personality, I prefer to let people judge that for themselves when the new story starts.

@Dmagoj and everyone else To those who can stomach horror, I highly recommend Higurashi. I just finished the 2006 anime (there's a 2020 version too) and it was amazing.

nobody103

I watched the 2006 version of the anime, though it has been a long time and I kind of forgot a lot of it. I do remember that it involves a sort of time loop, though, and some basics of the plot.

Are you planning on having the length of Zenith of Sorcery the same length and epic scope as M.o.L? Personally I'm hoping for equal or greater length but that's just me :) Also, are you planning on incorporating the same magic disciplines as in M.o.L? One of the reasons why M.o.L is one of my all time favourite books is because of the detailed and varied magic disciplines such as soul magic, mind magic, divination, golem making, potion making, and shaping exercises.

nobody103

I don't dare specify the length at this point. It certainly has the same epic scope in the current stage, but then again MoL received a lot of cuts as I was writing it so we'll see. There is definitely a wide variety of magical disciplines in the setting. More than MoL, technically, since there are multiple variations of the magic system in this story, even if I only intend to linger on one. But since the one I intend to focus on is a typical mage-style system, you can imagine how many ways it contains. But yes, a lot of the concepts will be simply reused from MoL. They won't work identically as they do there, but close enough. I don't see the need to reinvent the wheel to that extent.

Tom

Sweet look forward to reading the chapters when you write them.

Hey, someone is trying to sell your book on amazon (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08TCL4BTR/) I, frankly, don't believe this is you. Can you comment on this?
