From Reddit: "So, he figured out Rea has excellent, even magical hearing that can pick up and follow conversations in other rooms. Then proceeds downstairs and discusses is darkest secrets with Kael while she is still in the house......" https://www.reddit.com/r/LightNovels/comments/3ejxva/endisc_mother_of_learning_chapter_39/

Thanks for another awesome chapter, good to see more of Xvim being his usual evil self, good to see confirmation he can cast magic, and yay for more Kael banter. I do have some questions. What would be the typical basic alchemy student uses of alchemy? Healing poison, obviously, enhancement potions. I'm just curious what's the normal range of powers are. If a student wanted to make a profit using alchemy would they be able to, assuming they were super skilled? Is there any demand for that?

Thanks for another chapter! Still enjoying Xvim, and hoping those shaping exercises pay dividend for Zorian as he continues letting Xvim be a dick to him. Fufufu. I'm hoping for more Kirielle interactions in the future, she's just so dang cute. Makes me miss Novelty ;_;7. All that said, things are heating up, and we're getting some really juicy info. Also, calling it(but jokingly, but maybe seriously?), Zach is The Chosen One of Prophecy, who will defend the world against the Primordial and die in the process, a champion and hero.

Healing poison, heh. I assume it's a typo. The basic uses of alchemy are medical (though not general-purpose healing potions; those exist but aren't exactly beginner's level stuff), minor enhancement (boost your magic resistance, endurance, reaction times and the like; these are more like magical drugs than no-strings-attached bonuses, though), mind-altering concoctions (lower your inhibitions without suffering loss of coordination from being drunk, things like that; general intelligence boost don't exist in MoL-verse), and creation of super-substances (powerful glues, oils, treated wood, enhanced metals, and so on). Transformation potions (including enhancement potions based on transformation) are doable at beginner level, but not commonly taught to students, as they are considered dangerous. Beginners can also make magical poisons pretty easily, but that is likewise not taught.

Well, the truth is that I totally didn't think of that. My bad. That said, alchemical workshops are almost always warded for safety reasons, and Imaya wouldn't have allowed Kael to use her basement as a lab if he didn't secure it properly. So lets say that the ward scheme academy installed for Kael had basic privacy functions by default... or that Zorian added them in so he didn't have to secure the room every time he wanted to talk to Kael. Problem solved.

Sweet, new chapter! Loved it as always. Thought it was a bit weird that Zorian was willing to straight murder a dude to advance his magical training though, considering he was unwilling to do the same earlier in the story to gain soul perception (though I suppose it's not quite the same situation). Maybe it's just some intentional moral decay? Idk, looking forward to reading more at any rate.

Just pledged $20. Nepene introduced me to your story. I'm also one of his players he Dm's. Keep up the god work!

Well, um, thanks! I shall indeed endeavor to keep up the good work! Hope you continue to enjoy the story.

A bit of both. Zorian did abandon some of his moral compass in order to advance his mind magic, but killing someone to gain soul sight isn't the same as what he did to advance his memory manipulation. Keep in mind that magic in MoL-verse isn't powered by symbolism, so if getting soul sight requires ritualistically murdering someone that is a powerful hint that there is more to the price than it first appears...
