Mother of Learning Chapter 74: The Return, a fantasy fiction | FictionPress

He unconsciously clutched the rifle closer to his chest, the sensation of it dispelling his current stream of thought. He remembered practicing with it over and over, but it still felt a bit alien to his mind... and so did the arms that held it.

So...when are they going to bring Silverlake the hydra corpse? Surely it has much more powerful regenerative essence than the salamanders do.

nobody103

Why assume that any regeneration-capable creature would do for her purposes? She is research a highly sophisticated, sensitive potion. Maybe the giant salamander has a highly specific trait that is important to her, and hydra's regeneration just doesn't match, even if it is technically more powerful. Keep in mind that hydras have regeneration that is primarily focused on regrowing their heads rather than something that equally affects the whole body. And also note that Silverlake could have easily used troll flesh, since they also have a much more potent regeneration ability, yet decided not to. Finally, Zach and Zorian do not really trust/like Silverlake enough to go out of the way to help her out in her task this way, unless they think they can get something out of it.

Thanks for the bit of good reading!

"it's a miracle you got this far with such an awful work ethic" I died at this line. He is pretty much defined by his work ethic, he has 6 versions of himself working on 5 different things at the same time. Also silverlake is actually a super mage, what a surprise. This chapter is actually incredibly significant, silverlake is leagues above basically every other mage they have encountered and having her is a teacher is great. Also did he mention kael this loop?

Thank you for this chapter, Silverlake is really a cool character. Ahhhhh three (or more) weeks to gooooo

How many restarts are left? Oh and I feel like Silverlake is a teacher that Zorian can learn from for a long time. She is basically an Immortal and is on the cusp of eternal youth. She also seems to like Zorian if these little lessons are anything to go by. Her mention of how the Witch Covens failed to change makes me hope she will train Zorian as a male witch. Either way..... The end is near, what? If this arc is like the other two we only have 4 more chapters, although, you will probably have this arc slightly longer, right? I hope so, because my life is measured, currently, in 3 week increments. Will be so lost once Mother of Learning ends.

Matthew Rogers

I'm thinking that Zorian's grandmother being a witch will be significant in some way (maybe Silverlake is his ancestor!) and that when they convince Silverlake about the time loop she's going to get in on the same research deal Kael has for continued instruction.

Satya Prateek

Haha finally get to meet Silverlake and ohh my word she's brilliant. Also loved all the Simulacrum personalities. Clones in most cultivation novels are non-entities or either identical to the protagonist. So it's cool to see each of them have their own motivations rather than be living golems.

I don't think so, you forget she's immortal the time loop offers kael advancement without the cost of time to himself, for silverlake she already has time to waste, rather all the time in the world.

J H

Great chapter! Can't wait to see where Silverlake's training and all their research leads!

Matthew M

"She >TEND< ushered them into her cottage". Gotta correct that error.

Gah! Whenever I read, I get so engrossed that I forget an ending is coming. And then it ends like a slap in the face. This chapter was so satisfying.

Woah . . . life without MoL? What . . . I really hope this arc goes on twenty more chapters, but I think you're right.

David Wild

Is there a good way to send you errors? Or some kind of a markup? I'm sure you re-read these after the fact, but if there's an easy way for us to help you...

nobody103

Just send them to me whenever to either the Patreon, reddit, fictionpress account or some other method. I collect them all into a single document and then eventually sit down and do a mass edit. That's why the errors don't change for months at the time, and then all suddenly get handled one day.

Cool, Silverlake's dramatic return to the story! The first time I looked at this story (binge reading all of it at once of course) her introduction was as far as the story had gone. That was chapter 28! It sure has been a while.
