To answer Nat’a question, In Norway it s quite common for people to gather at somebody’ house to drink before they hit the town. Thus comes the term ‘vors’ or pre-party. I think it maybe something to do with the hight cost of drinks in the bars/pubs in Oslo.

Yeah. pooling money with friends to get alcohol to get half drunk at home to save money having to buy drinks when out, or maybe to save on having to buy as much to share at parties. I live in the states and we did this in college. drink at someones house before going out because drinks were too expensive in bars.

Everybody preparty (vors=vorspiel) in Norway. And there is also nach=nachspiel after the party.

It has two functions: 1: alcohol is very expencive in bars/pubs- so drinking before hitting the bars is economical. 2: it's å social thing: drikking and having fun with your friends... And if you are under age (18 in Norway) - you can't drink in bars anyway.
