Hello token users!

It's been a little while since our last set of tokens for Heliana's Guide to Monster Hunting, but we're back one last time with a set made especially for one of their bonus adventures reached as a stretch goal in the original Kickstarter. If this is the first you're seeing of these, you can click on the "Heliana" tag on this post below to see all of the previous token sets made for this stunning resource.

The Bonemonger's adventure is a part-humorous, part-harrowing one with a heavy focus on the undead. This first set of tokens is more unique to the creatures devised by the creators behind Heliana's, while the second set arriving next week will contain some more friendly (yet equally undead) faces.

As always, these tokens arrive in both shadowed and shadowless forms as well as some color variants and in the case of the Horned Devil Skeleton some modular options for unarmed, pitchfork, or fire versions. The Statblocks download below provide lore, background, and stats (of varying CR options) for the Bonemonger specifically--a fascinating villain that I'd encourage you to explore.

The other enemies present here (the animated bones is effectively a token for one of the Bonemonger's abilities) represent skeletal versions of existing creatures. I've copy + pasted a brief guide from the Bonemonger's adventure that you can use for these and any other creatures you may want to create skeletal variants of, I've found it quite handy:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If a creature isn’t already a skeleton, this state modifies the named creature’s statistics in the following ways:

  • It has vulnerability to bludgeoning damage.
  • It is immune to poison damage.
  • It is immune to the exhaustion and poisoned conditions.
  • It has darkvision out to 60 feet (if not already further).
  • It can understand the languages it spoke in life, but can’t speak.

In addition, a skeleton’s AC and hit points might be lower than its non-skeleton forms, which can result in a reduction in their CR. These changes are indicated in parentheses after the creature’s name in each wave’s ‘Enemies’ section.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Enjoy!

You actually took the rabbit from Holy Grail and made it a very dynamic and interesting character that you could fit in almost any campaign. "It's got huge sharp... he can leap about... LOOK AT THE BONES!!!"
