Hello all!

About a year ago as a part of the 4-year anniversary we began the tedious (but rewarding!) work of converting our asset library into the Dungeondraft mapmaking program. I am very pleased (and relieved) to announce that as of today, 100% of the asset library is now available in Dungeondraft. This includes 79 different dungeondraft packs and 1000's of assets. All of the new packs are attached to this post individually below, but for the sake of convenience I have also compiled all available Dungeondraft packs into a single mass-download for new users:

As a part of this major milestone, I've also been working diligently to put together what I am calling the Dungeondraft Handbook, a lengthy PDF that provides some initial tips to the packs' uses in Dungeondraft, lists every single available pack with relevant information, includes embedded direct download links to each pack's file, and features an Index at the end of the PDF with linked lists organized by the types of each pack's contents as well as the available functionalities within Dungeondraft itself. It will be a living document that is updated monthly and hopefully makes this rather intimidatingly large library somewhat easier to grasp.

As you can imagine, a great deal of this took a lot of effort, especially this final push as we're working with older, more complex packs. As a result, I am releasing this final set of Dungeondraft-packs as one of our five paid posts for the month. All of these new dungeondraft packs are also uploaded to the main Dungeondraft Compendium post, but I will summarize the new additions and our plans moving forward below:

"New" Packs to the Dungeondraft Library:

  • Castle Assets
  • Cave Assets
  • Urban Assets
  • Underdark Assets
  • City Walls Assets
  • Garden Assets
  • Tavern Assets
  • Lodging Assets

A great deal of the above packs contain new colorable functionality that expands their usefulness beyond their original scope as well as heavily-modular functionality in the forms of walls, tilesets, paths, etc. Additionally, the  more observant among you may notice that in the Compendium post we have formally separated the Statue Assets, Tree Assets, Magic Item Assets, and Dungeon Entrances into separate dungeondraft packs relative to their original release structure so as to be consistent with the rest of the library. 

 Plans for Dungeondraft Moving Forward

  • Will continue releasing DD-converted counterparts simultaneously with each new asset pack (as we've been doing for the better part of a year now)
  • I plan to continue integrating quality-of-life improvements to the library, announcing those in regular updates every 1-2 months (future editions will be marked as new versions for returning users)
  • Want to focus on improving the scaling of assets, expanding the options for colorability, and seeing where we can take greater advantage of paths, tilesets, and other tools within DD that we haven't fully explored yet (i.e. materials, patterns, lights, etc.)
  • Seeing where (for the sake of convenience) we can create "mega packs" combining major themes of individual packs that would likely be used together. I will not be doing this for the entire library because having many dozens of packs uploaded into dungeondraft at the same time will at the very least cause significant lag, if not crash the program altogether. 
  • Making some tutorial videos! Particularly for new DD users it can be a little overwhelming building a grasp of all of the additional functionality these new conversions offer to you in your mapmaking. I would like to put together a small playlist exhibiting the usefulness of certain paths, building with walls, using lights, layers, etc.

Very exciting! Do these map assets have the same commercial license as dungeondraft's commercial license - which would allow publishing of maps made using these assets?

Hey Brian! DD's commercial license extends only to the assets native to their program, the visuals they themselves own. We have options for commercial licensing (the archiver tier on this patreon, for example), but commercial licensing is not inherently bestowed simply by having used the files in DD.

Hell yeah! That's great news! I was just lamenting the absence of some assets in DD format, and you came to the rescue! And thanks for putting them all in one pack, I got a bit lost in all those files for a bit.
