Hey folks!

Story time: starting at the beginning of 2020 my rate of mapmaking for towns and cities has significantly declined. Through individual messages, comments, and data from polling it was clear that the overwhelming desire was for battle maps, assets, and the occasional dungeon (with some fun lore-based maps sprinkled in very infrequently). As a result, I only produced 2 town or city maps in 2020; the town of Elisha Burrow and the town of Wooster, both from our Great Expanse setting.

That said, I still personally really enjoy these kinds of maps! I think a good city or town map really help provide an incredible backdrop to a campaign, even when players may only be passing through or spending a couple of sessions there. That's part of why I released City Assets part one and part two

As a follow up to those City Assets released back in 2019, I've decided to share with you my curated Town Assets, a fairly large pack designed for crafting exactly what they're described as: Town Maps.

In total the pack contains:

  • 156 buildings of varying size, detail, and importance
  • 41 bushes, hedges, etc.
  • 21 farms or farming plots
  • 123 trees or tree clusters
  • A water-themed folder with boats, bridges, piers, and bodies of water
  • A miscellaneous set containing statues, wells, rocks, and ruins
  • 2 simplified ground textures to use as a foundation
  • 5 'Crossroads' templates to quickly drop on top of the ground to create instant roadways
  • Shadow and non-shadow variants of all of the above
  • A finished example Town Map of the settlement of Lorempina

It's my sincere hope that you all can use these to create that memorable starting town for your next group of players or as the NPC-filled backdrop for players to meander through as they prepare for the incoming band of gnolls. As a bonus, many of the assets (trees and bushes in particular) can be used as battle map pieces as well, it's all about playing with scale!

Lastly, if you're into this set and excited about it, I really would check out the City Assets packs linked above. Part one especially has some extra goodies in there perfect for mapmaking like scales, compasses, and a custom Photoshop brush I made for painting your own roads!

Enjoy!
