Hello everyone!

WOW have I got something to share with you today: the culmination of a month's long collaboration between myself, The Idle DM, Loot Tavern, and Michael Ghelfi. I was lucky enough to convince them to work with me on fleshing out another location from our Great Expanse setting, the Gruff & Ready.

The Gruff & Ready is a roadside mercantile that has steadily grown from a struggling supply store to one of the premier attractions (for those of the right crowd) on the eastern end of the Expanse. It features a multi-level shop (the Ready General Store) that boasts a number of flavorful (and in some cases, magical!) items and across the road you'll find the more recently constructed Gruff Saloon and its central brawling ring. Both are owned and operated by siblings Ernest and Loretta Ahlborn.

Contained within the package below you'll find:

  • A 5-page PDF providing background lore on the Gruff & Ready, detailing its proprietors, providing 8 flavorful, non-mechanical items, 2 random item tables, 7 new magic items specific to this setting, a table of 5 liquors found at the saloon (one of which arrives as a potion!), and details as to how brawls are handled at the saloon.
  • A building map of the Gruff & Ready, visualizing its various components
  • Battle-scale PNG floors of both rooms
  • Three magic items designed and Illustrated by the Idle DM (The Ampoule of Thunderwater, the Gruff Eyepatch, and the Hilt of the Old Guard)
  • Three magic items designed and illustrated by Loot Tavern (the Carrion Amulet, the Dust Devil Poncho, and the Gravedigger's Top Hat)
  • Original background sound design created by Michael Ghelfi specific to this location for you to play during the session!

I seriously can't express how fortunate I was to get to work with these talented folk and I know you'll love their contributions here that raise the quality of this location far beyond what I could've done on my own. Please give their work a look and I know you'll want to investigate further once you've done so!

This is my first official attempt to recreate my DM notes from my ongoing campaign with my players into usable text for you all, so please let me know what you think!

Enjoy!
