Hello everyone!

Super excited to share with you the first regional map I've created in about a year: The Great Expanse. I am especially stoked for this map because I've created it for a new campaign my players and I are starting that's set in it! The Great Expanse is a setting of my own design that's heavily inspired by the American West of the mid 1800's, but also with an attempt to interweave common themes from D&D generally.

As you can probably tell from the compass, I'll be using a variation of the Gunslinger class for a player or two as well as a number of NPCs. The size of the expanse is quite large (compared to what I'm used to managing); for my American friends the map from end-to-end is about the same size as the state of Colorado. There are a number of factions at play here in a campaign that I hope will be as much about politics as it will exploration and intrigue: competing railroad companies, mining guilds, orc tribes, and a neighboring nation on the other side of the Soot Foot Mountains that most factions have a vested interest in reaching.

Additionally, it has been my great pleasure to get to collaborate with my friend Will Savino of Music d20 (whom you may remember from his track for the Hallowed Brazier) who was kind enough to create a Theme Song of sorts to accompany the Great Expanse. Listening to it has got me all kinds of hyped and we haven't even had our first session yet! I'm sure you'll get a kick out of it as well and use it set exactly the right tone for this setting. I've been a patron of Will's since last year and have thoroughly been enjoying his content--if you like this track he's also posted a 'sparse' version of it for his $5/mo supporters. Check him out!

Over the next couple of months I will be sprinkling in some content related to this new setting I've designed. I've got a frontier town in the works, developing an entire set of railway cars, and may even put together some assets made specifically for this biome as well. It's also my hope and intention to regularly 'polish up' my own DM notes for our campaign and sessions so that you all can hopefully benefit from them as well. Stay tuned, and enjoy!
