I won't comment about the movies after this one right now, because I don't like setting expectations (even though you've seen Genesys at this point), but I actually liked the first four movies in the series. I say it all the time when discussing this franchise, it's not that the past two movies in this series are horrible, it's just that the first two were so incredible that everything after them seems worse by comparison. The "Alien" franchise suffers from the same problem. A truly amazing beginning that makes everything that follows, even though it's decent, seem that much worse in comparison. Is this the best movie ever made? Not by a long shot. But there were things about it that I really liked. I think my biggest amusement in this movie was how Marcus slowly made the decisions that played into Skynet's plan over the course of the movie, but every step of the way those decisions made sense for his character as a guy who woke up in a future he doesn't understand and is just trying to figure things out and help his friends. I appreciate that you could see it as his "machine brain" influencing him subconsciously, but he could easily believe the decisions were entirely his. Anyway, it was fun to see the whole thing with you. I look forward to seeing what you think of the next two!
