Megan the Librarian

I've watched this movie a few times now. It's probably my favorite war movie. I especially love the metaphor of the cherry blossoms representing people who go through war, even Europe as a whole. Schofield says something to the effect of, "The trees are going to die aren't they?" And Blake says, "No, the pits will rot and they'll grow new trees. There will be even more than there were before." And to me that's the resilience of the human spirit. The whole continent went through two world wars that destroyed so much, and yet you can barely tell if you visit now. Same with the woman and the baby. Amidst all the death, there is also new life. And that's beautiful.

Oh, also, I believe the man whose stories this movie is loosely based on is Sam Mendes' grandfather.

If you haven't watched Speed(1994) I suggest that for a reaction.
