Yeah, apparently when the actual Annabelle doll was in the Warren's Occult Museum, a young woman and her boyfriend came to see the different 'cursed' objects and the famous doll. The woman's boyfriend tapped the glass and supposedly taunted Annabelle, telling her that she's not so scary and that he didn't believe in all the occult and paranormal business; when they left, on the way home, they got into a horrific car accident and I believe that either just the boyfriend died or they both did. I can't remember, exactly. Also, supposedly, when the Warrens were first transporting Annabelle from the nurses' apartment, the car died right outside of a cemetery; Ed got out to check under the hood of the car and was almost run over by a truck. The lore of Annabelle in real life was basically the same as in the movie; she was supposedly owned by two nurses, one of whom's mother gifted it to her. Right away, things started happening and the women contacted a medium, who told them that a little girl named Annabelle who had previously owned the doll and died was possessing it. The nurses gave Annabelle permission to live among them inside the doll so they could be nurturing. As soon as they did, things ratcheted up and got more malevolent. The boyfriend of one of the nurses had fallen asleep near the doll and was woken up by the sensation of something choking him, and with seven deep scratches over his chest. The Warrens were called and they spent some time around the doll and did some experiments before proclaiming that it was being manipulated bya demonic entity and promptly removing it and taking it to their home. As far as the other movies go, the other two Annabelle movies are markedly better than this one; as far as the entire universe is concerned, Annabelle and The Nun are the weaker two out of the entire roster. I didn't mind The Nun so much (although it definitely could've been better) but I agree with Annabelle being a weak showing.
