Yeah Karen makes some really rash decisions but her character is so damn good, especially with this beautifully done backstory episode. Karen was a part of a terrible situation, drugs and alcohol are awful things, especially if you get addicted to them. Obviously these are choices Karen made, but I don't really think any one person is at fault here. It's the story of a tragic, broken family and yeah, the father couldn't manage the loss of the mother and he seems disconnected with everyone. Karen's brother was such a good guy, wanting the best for her, and of course he's the one who pays the price. Some people never recover from the trauma of losing someone. Sometimes they just haven't been taught how to manage it or they didn't get the help they needed. It's truly sad. With all that being said, Father Lantoms talk about redemption is such a touching ideal. I watched a YouTube channel called Cinema Therapy, and they have talked a lot about trying to redeem yourself or mend bridges. Wiping the slate clean, like Natasha wants to do in Marvel. With redemption, you want to mend bridges all you can, but sometimes you can't. She could try to mend bridges with her dad, but when she called him, it seemed like he was still distant and cold towards her. I think they need some hard family therapy 😅 they need to have a real talk about the hurts in their past. And if that isn't possible for one reason or another, then you have to move forward trying every day to be better than the person you were. Always try to take actions to keep yourself out of that hole. Living your life helping others also does wonders for redemption. Not because it undoes what you've done, but making other people's lives better is such a purely good action. When you're trying to redeem yourself, that's certainly a good place to be in. Dex is a certain character from the comics that I'm kinda surprised you haven't heard of. I forget if you've mentioned whether you guys have seen the Daredevil movie in the 2000s. But I will mention who Dex is later on, as the season comes to a close. Can't wait for the final episodes!
