This film was close to never getting finished at all . Filming on the ocean was problematic ,the Orca boat sank , the mechannical shark kept not working and the studio stopped putting back money into the production because of the long shoot . But with some filming techniques and John Williams score the film was a hit .

It's also based on Peter Benchley's novel of the same name . Spielberg did not come back to direct the sequel because the shoot was to problematic and chaotic on the first one that he said he never wanted to be in that experience again .

You know a film is good if it can still make you jump even after seeing it twice! I really like these classics because they really take the time to open up the characters. It's about the slow burn, not the jump scares. I like how we see the cop's family dynamic and how they took their time during the autopsy scene...it wasn't just about the 'monster' but the victims as well. Also even though the score is very effective, if you notice in the beginning with the girl and also the boy later, the tension is actually intensified by the use of silence. This is definitely more than a blockbuster to me. Great reaction as usual guys, so glad you liked it :)

I am so happy you two chose this movie to watch and react to! If nothing else it gave me a chance to rewatch one of the best movies of all time. It has been years and aside from the highlights, I had forgotten many of the scenes. I truly enjoy your reactions, and am very impressed at the diverse movie choices. Keep up the good work! If interested, The Critical Drinker did an excellent video on Jaws which included lots of movie trivia. Here is the YouTube link: https://youtu.be/1O9E311Vs9Y Lastly, if I may make a recommendation, especially if neither of you have seen it: The Usual Suspects. Yes, it stars Kevin Spacey, who is understandably and rightfully persona non grata in Hollywood these days, but it is IMO his best performance ever. Aside from him, the movie is a classic and has the best twist ever. Something to consider. Thanks for the journeys!

It's alright to respect the work and not the person . It's perfectly fine .

Did you guys catch the falling star on the boat scene ? It was the real deal caught on camera by accident. Later on Spielberg added in falling stars into a few of his movies as a good luck charm.
